Hi all.

New KSL owner here. Picked up a Comp 22 model cheap last week after riding a KenLevo (Cascade LSK) for the past 18 months. Wanting a second eMTB and a park bike and thought a well priced Kenevo SL would tick both boxes.

Photo below is its current state and how it'll have to stay after breaking my arm riding 2 weeks ago (x-ray attached because it's gnarly).

Current and future plans:
- mullet
- 230x65mm shock (remove Float X spacer) and it'll get my EXT Storia coil off my KenLevo for bike park. Should get 177mm or so travel with that. Same mounting hardware ftw.
- 180mm 38mm fork. Currently keeping an eye on secondhand stuff.
- shorter cranks - anyone got a good lead on 155-160mm cranks for the SL 1.1?
- Lewis LHT Ultimate or LHP U4 brakes so both bikes share common pads and spares.
- rigid seat post. What you see here is what's gonna stay for bike park days. Cutting the post down and slamming it for park. Dropper back in for regular riding.

Anyone else running a similar set-up and have insights?

KSL is a lovely bike especially with a Storia. (And a Zeb) You’ll need the short remote reservoir as the std one hits the frame in the hoop.

275 rear works great. Turns in better in tight terrain. Stringer wheel. More mud clearance. 338BB height with head mid (about 64deg) and chainstays in high BB position.

45 stem cuts the XL nicely. I needed a 50 rise Burgtec bar as the headtube’s relatively short.

Michelin DH 22 front DH16 rear.

160 crank works well

I’m running an S5 with 180mm Zeb and 165mm Alu praxis cranks.

You might find it very slack with 180mm up front and the mullet rear wheel, depending on how steep the trails are in your area? I had to run the headset in the steeper setting to keep the wheel from flopping, but the areas I ride are relatively flat…

180 is ok I think with 275 rear. Head mid. . Sags more. Mines a 180. BB at my target 338mm static.
I’m used to flop as I got the Geometron bug in 2015. Once over walking speed I like it. I rarely get chance to ride proper steep.

Hi there! I've a couple of question about KSL1.
1. I have KSL gen 1 with master mind TCU - can I integrate sram AXS as a sensor?
2. If I'm going to change the geometry via bottom flipchip - it will reduce the required length of the chain. How do you setup your bike, if you need 2 different geometries?
3. Does this frame compatible with spring rear shock?
4. How often do I need to open motor and change the lube in it? Is it possible to do without workshop?

1. Yes you can connect the derailleur to the TCU so you can see (e.g) what gear you’re in or the battery level, but I’ve found that this drains the AXS battery very quickly.
2. I’ve never changed my chain length if changing the flip chip and it’s been fine 🤷🏼‍♀️.
3. Yes, but you need to make sure there’s enough clearance through the suspension tunnel if your chosen shock has a piggyback. I use an Ohlins TTX22M with no issues.
4. Mine is a year old and done nearly 3000miles and I’ve not opened it or touched the motor at all. Opening the motor case will invalidate any warranty you have so if the bike is still under warranty I wouldn’t recommend this.

What is the chain length on your bike and what is the front gear teeth / cassette?

P.S: what exactly happened to me when I decided to use flip chip
"Something quite dramatic is the Kenevo SL's bb height flip chip also adjusts the chainstay length. The bike ships in 'High' mode which sets the chainstay length to 446mm. But flip it to 'Low' mode and the chainstay length shortens to 441mm. "
After that my chain started to sag

That’s strange, would have expected the spring in the derailleur to take up the slack in the chain?

You shouldn’t open up the motor and change the oil/grease unless you really know what you are doing, rather let a Specialized mechanic do it.

If I remember correctly the KSL will take up to a 34 tooth chainring, I think 36 is too big 🤔
