She has told me running 29 in rear wheel with 210x55 shock will risk rubbing the seat stay.
I'll b running a taller plus 27.5 x2.8 Maxxis HR2 myself. It's gets to 28.25" to 28.5 depending on PSI with fresh nobs/lugs. So, I will insert travel tokens in my SLDX if it seems close when fully built.

To double check, I'll deflate the shock air when standing flat on the floor and compress the saddle to see my clearance...then adjust from there if needed.

It's an internally routed cable (IRC) headset for the upper...frame manufacturer specific apparently. Probably lower grade for CEF50 frame and will junk most of it. Unfortunately, no Chris King, Cane Creek, or Wolftooth makes them for mtbs except for a few smaller road headsets. I spoke to each a few weeks ago.

FSA has one. Ritchie as well. But
I also found Nukeproof's ICR for their Megawatt E-mtb...might be a better alternative. Or a Deda looks cool.

First, I was just going to stuff as much CaneCreek 110 or Wolftooth Premium internals that will work with the stock upper headset and see what works.

If not buy the NP or Deda.

Any -.5 or -1 headsets that will fit this frame that you are aware of?

Like others, I get lost pretty quickly when it comes to headsets.

Thanks.

That's an unknown for me at least. Maybe try a LBS that might work on road bikes...their mechanics will likely have some direct IRC experience... it's just too new for the mtb/E-mtb crowd. Mine is Orbea dealer, all the new higher end for '23 and up are using their own IRC brand. Looks clean, but he hadn't done a tear down to look at yet.

Like I said I'm just gonna swap out the stock upper HS guts to stuff in a much higher quality bearings/washers/cups(?) as I'm able. So trial and error.😁

Linda has been stellar as far as customer service goes.. I’d be shocked if they didn’t pull through.

She has told me running 29 in rear wheel with 210x55 shock will risk rubbing the seat stay. She sent me gif sent from her engineers. It seems really well thought out. Wish I could post the gif.

Could I get some more info on this because it's different than what she told me?

There's no reason you can't post a GIF .. just insert it as an image

Its an .mp4 file which I cant upload.

I took a screenshot of it. This is the part showing it buzzing the seat stay. This is with 29 Inch wheels and 210x55 at full flex.

Well sh$t! That's definitely a butt buzzer! Good thing you ran the numbers with their engineering. It still may not do what they predict. Meaning that they may want to discourage warranty claims due to the overstroke frame damage.

Sounds conspiratorial, but that's what my full powered M600 frame manufacturer did. They listed at 150 mm, but some peeps were reported to have travel up to 165+mm, and a few were snapping "seat stays" on extremes. Honest, no embellishment...the company manager admitted to it on this forum last summer..🤯

Remedy: For what it's worth you could go down to 52.5 mm stroke if you haven't bought the shock yet. Then you get the full travel without tokens added. Or purchase a 52.5 mm STD damper "shaft" to shorten the stroke from your existing 55 mm for Rock Shox, others I'm unsure if you would DIY it or send off for a rebuild.

I had to send mine to Fox for my Float X2 a few years ago (overstroked it and hit seat mast)....sent to Fox to shorten it. Worked out well for $150ish.👍

Pay attention. Light Carbon didn't want to sell us the new M820 frame. But it's good that there is competition and LC has started taking orders for a new frame :) This is very good and we can choose the best frame. It's bad that dengfu is in no hurry to show us the new frame for the M820. I think all frames should be of good quality.

I started a spec page so it is easier to find info than reading thru the whole thread.
best to leave discussion here but if anyone wants me to add data just let me know.

Here's the official 720Wh battery with hardware.

I requested a standalone battery pic. Linda hasn't responded yet.

So, 4.055 kgs = 8.94lbs.🍻

Cool! Linda just sent the updated photo. 4.00 kg is 8.82 lbs. And crap! Her original estimate of 8.3 was light by 0.52 lbs. Not awesome.😞 On the positive, I switched from the heavier coil shock back to air, so overall it was a few 100 g lighter...so yeah!💸

Range extender battery request.

Just FYI: I should have asked in the begining to see if they will make an battery extender. Initially they weren't offering them. It really makes sense to have at least one extender for those epic trips!💪
Screenshot_20230214-080013.png

But if you think you will need a 300ish Wh range extender I recommend requesting one. Especially, if you're running a 410W battery. Most mid-powered owners for the TQ50 and Fazua60 recommend a range extender. Of course, the more requests Linda gets, the better chance the company can justify the new product.

It's easier than rigging one up DIY, probably cheaper too. Plus, they already make the 720 Wh third-party. So, it's likely no that hard for them. The more requests the better.

Personally, I could use one to carry in my backpack for longer rides, or two for camping trips, even with the big 720Wh.

Oui...

Bottom line most would prefer an extender made for the CEF50. Their engineers will be able to troubleshoot compatibility issues for most of us far more competently. Plus, their warranty will cover future issues.

Good for you. I have their full-powered LC04....I bought two of them. The batteries have been a past issue. Jim has been known to hype up his product and then not provide support. I'm glad another manufacturer is making a M820 frame in competition.

But, this thread is to help other people that are buying the CEF50 and have an opportunity to request the manufacturer make a reliable extender that most will want.

So, contact Linda Iif you want a reliable extender made.👍
