First off, I love my CEF50:

Of course this frame isn't perfect, headset routing sucks, I had to dremel a pit in the carbon to allow for the Cane Creek to fit, etc. However, the entire build including frame, motor, and battery is about $3k for me so thats not too bad, especially for a total build weight of exactly 42 pounds.

Anyways, with the other m820 and CEF50 threads getting over a hundred pages long, I thought I'd start a new one SPECIFICALLY FOR MAINTENANCE, REPAIRS, AND REPLACEMENT PARTS for this frame.

If you spend hours reading the other threads, there are several recurring problems the CEF50 has. They are:

  • Headset creaking
  • Bolts coming loose
  • Cracking near the Horst link (rear) pivot on the chainstay, drive side
I've only encountered the first two. Anything else to be added?

Personally, I've had several bolts come loose- the motor mounts and the driveside rear chainstay pivot, which I lost this morning. Anyone know of how to get a replacement?

Don't neglect your thread locker!

I secured every bolt with threadlocker during buildup, and this is relatively secure...
The problem is: i destroyed the mounting-bolts for the shop...
Does someone have the exact measurements of those bolts?
Thanks!

Sure:

And in the meantime, I can see, why it was not obvious... I meant the bolts for the SHOCK - which should be clear - but I wrote the bolts for the SHOP... :D
Sorry for that... ;)

Thank you all!

Thanks, I will contact her, but I fear, that the next bolts will be soft aluminium as well.
I would like to get bolts in titanium or steel...

Thank you!
BTW: I did not lose a part - I broke the Hex inside the bolt head...
So I will have to break it, to get it out...

Hello, I have ordered a battery motor and a CEF 50 frame. I would like to know if this shock absorber is suitable for me. It says it is 210-50. The other measurement that is indicated on the geometry of the frame is 8* - 22.2. I also don't know if that measurement is the one that the shock absorber has.

my headset creaks so bad, cant really get it tight always has slop. Is it the bearings, or do I need a different headset as the one with the bike is not great. THoughts?

Coil spring folks, would you mind sharing what rate coil you're running along with your weight? I'm contemplating the switch and would like to get an idea on spring rate. Thanks!!
