Cascade Components was working on a solution, though I haven't heard them mention it of late. They posted some images to IG a few months back and said it was coming though.

That’s ok then. , but as I have only done 200 miles without issue that’s all I can state .
Reviewers of early releases of the bike with the original latch had issues from the start .
As the above post says about the assembly of the top mount also wasn’t good on his bike and needed lock tight .
The latch and some top mounts coming loose sounds more like what the issue is.
I’m sure the factory gets feed back on the issues and maybe now lock tights the top mount along with fitting the new latch and his may well have now fixed the issue .
Time will tell In my case but I’m hopeful the issue is a none issue now for most .
There is not that many on here and other strive on owners forums with the issue when you look at the number of bikes sold .

Yes, that's right and I started an email conversation with them and asked them if they could reserve one of their latches for me (look how far I'm at, pre-ordering without asking about the cost!!!). They are a bit very monosyllabic, they just repeat yes, but it will come later and you can't pre-order yet. That was three months ago. They referred me to their social media pages: when it comes, you'll find out there... nothing yet. My biggest fear is: in their testing it turned out that it's not just the latch... (see my posts above).

I love their products, but they get bogged down a lot. Doesn't surprise me. I think it's mainly because the MTB suspension division is really an offshoot of their actual CNC business.

As some of the others have mentioned, mine isn't causing any issues at the moment. But I will be investing in the Cascade product whenever it becomes available just for peace of mind.

Unfortenatly (Very Unfortenatly, btw...), I had several battery problems after the first 1.000 kms.

When I first saw the msg stating the problem, I thought it would be just some, and mostly those that remove/install the battery regularly.

Never thought it won't happen, but since I rode over 1.000km problem free.... There was a bit of hope, that the Strive :ON, I received was ok on this battery/disconnection issues (it had other issues, that were solved).

Thing is, I don't recall seeing someone wirh problems from kilometer 0.
battery/disconnectiin problems start after XXX kms, meaning is something that agravates with riding time.

On mine, after several issues, and having placed the bike in 3 bike shops, I quit repeating the process, and check personally what was happening.
What I observed, is that the upper bracket, is not properly assembled - meaning using threadlock on all bolts.

I sugest to anyone with this problem, to go ahead and verify this upper support.
It's a bit of a PITA, but is worth the trouble and assemble the bike properly!

The latch, is just a part of a problem (bad battery securing design), but anyone with disconnection/battery problem, should really check both parts:
-Latch
-Upper Battery Bracket (inside downtube)

Hope this helps everyone.
How many bolts hold the upper bracket? 2 on the underside and a tiny one on the top?

The upper Battery bracket is supported in total by 6 bolts (if I'm not wrong... didn't take any pictures!)

So there is 2 holding the backet to the frame, acessible by the outside.

And then there are 2 more:
2 in front (if you look inside the downtube)
2 underneath (if I recall correctly) --> these were the ones I found unbolted, and connect the bracket itself to the stainless steel adaptart that than it's connected to the bike throught the bolts you see outside on the downtube.

I found this picture hope it helps.

The highlighted bolts were found ½ and ¼ unbolted.
After all being assembled with lockthread (btw - only the outside bolts have from factory!), and assembled with a simple solution I've made and still testing, everything is working better than new!

No noise from the battery, no disconnections, nothing! Well... at least ±200km after I've made this.

So in total it's really 6 bolts

Red (1) connects the bracket assy to the part that connects to the frame, which is connected using the bolts you see outisde on the downtube (black (3)]
You still have the bolts marked in Blue (2), that connects the plastic bracket to an aluminium bracket.

You need to use threadlocker on all!
You need to check the tabs that secure the plug to this assembly (broken/too much play/etc).

Note: when assembled make sure you align and make sure the bracket is moved all the way in, to reduce the distance between the upper bracket and the latch.

My annoyance with Canyon is piling up. Designing and manufacturing a full sus carbon ebike clearly requires intelligence, so why do we have to fix dumb stuff?

I was in that same boat...
Thing is, knowing how big companies work, and getting feed up with all BS from Commercial/Warranty, I prefer to give a try, having all know-how on more complex machinery.

Thing is:
The Stive :ON is an excellent machine on the paper
Problem is that it has 2 "father": Canyon & Bosch, and is improperly assembled.
When I say Improper, I mean the various problems I had with Headset (that was a starnut incorrectly assembled), cassete and rear derailleur (improperly torqued!), battery bracket lose, latch...

......... that's too much for something with less than a year!

After a throught inspection&correction, and applying a solution for the battery --> taraaaa! Bike is finally problem and noise free for the last 200km!

I'd say, if you aren't mechanically inclined, or haven't a really nice Bike Shop, I would prefer a bike that I could buy on a shop and not online.

BTW - I always said the bike is top notch.
If this problems were solved with all work done + solution I'm trying, then.... it's really a EXCELENT BIKE ;)

Almost 300km, and until now, things are doing ok!

The anti-rattle battery device, is working flawlessly, and bike is much, much more silent!
Need to remove the chain to check if it cuts all noise coming from the engine (due to pedal kickback/suspension). If it does... will equate an OChain., or just live with noise! It still is less noisier than my 4stroke enduro!

If the confidence on the bike wasn't growing on me, I would never adventure myself on this ride!
55km // +1800m // 85% (750W)

Some really steep hills, that I only do with MOTO, was suprise to know I can also do it on the ebike (slower and with much higher HR... but it's doable!)

Sorry for being such a teasing pussy? regarding the solution, but I really want to make sure that it will work flawlessly.

Imagine, that for each meter you ride, you bounce 3 times in average, due to rocks, roots, etc...

~300km is less than 1 million (900.000 to be exact!) cycles. In fatigue analysis, this is next to nothing
I just want to make sure it works... any time, with anyone.

I'm hoping that in the meanwhile, Canyon/Bosch steps up the game, and solve this on their own!

Sorry for any disapointment or breaking any expectations.

Just got an orange light error on my strive on crf Ltd.
I think it’s the mini controller , I have just changed the battery in it , removed the main battery and restarted the bike but it’s still there .
Any ideas ?

Looks like the cx race Ltd motor has failed at 230 miles . The bike shop said they are waiting on a reply from Bosch but he said in nearly all cases an error code starting with 500 end up needing a new motor .
Great news that. , are other motor manufacturers as unreliable as Bosch ? I have 2 Bosch e-bikes and both needed new motors within a year and had 20 error codes between the 2 bikes .

Good to know,I've got the new latch,but haven't fitted it yet, thought I'd wait till the old one snaps,but I've put slapper tape on the inside of the downtube either side of the battery opposite sides of the latch so the battery is very snug,doesn't move at all laterally which I think has extended the life of the battery latch.

Another issue is the top mount were the battery fits to , lose bolts from factory

However, I could do with another 20-30mm saddle height. Add all that together and I get 240mm. One Up do a 240mm dropper. Is it as simple as this? Is a 240mm dropper the length I need? I can’t see what the max insertion length is on the Canyon website.

Photo shows my measurements. A is 170mm, B is 40mm. I want A to be 240mm, B 0mm.

I have the M Strive, 170mm dropper. I have to raise my seat post to around 40mm just to get a decent peddling height. I would like the seat post slammed as low as possible. Found the maximum insertion length info on the Canyon website:

Maximum Seat Post Insertion Depth in mm220240271271

So, using the One Up calculator, it’s informing me the maximum size for a M Strive is a 210mm V2 dropper, so I’m still going to be a little short unless I raise the height of the seat post by 20-30mm, which I didn't want to do

A 210mm dropper is a slight improvement, it will give me the same saddle height as I already have, but with a slammed seat post, or raise my saddle height if I keep the seat post slightly raised too. Do I want to spend over £150 to achieve this ? Mmm decisions …

In my experience, 40mm of extra seatpost travel feels absolutely massive on the trail.

Also oneup have the lowest stack height on the market. This means that a oneup with 1-2cm of post sticking out the seat tube could have your saddle as low as another brand's post fully slammed.
