Did anybody have problems with battery? Here are 2 videos showing my problem:

- YouTube

My problem:

Upon receiving the bike, I fully charged the battery to 100%. I then rode approximately 100km. During this time, I experienced frequent power losses from the motor, with the support cutting out intermittently. After depleting the battery to 20%, I recharged it.

Today, I went for another ride. The motor again experienced intermittent power loss. After a few kilometers, the battery level dropped to 83%, and then the motor completely lost power, with the battery level showing 0%. I had to stop and turn off the motor. When I turned it back on, the battery showed over 90%, but I could only travel about 100 meters before the motor lost power again, and the battery dropped to 0%.
My bike has similar problems when motor it's overheat, power losses , off on off on. So either I stop for a while or shift to E and slowly cycle for it to cool or off my motor. As your battery drop to zero, it's might be your battery BMS encounter overheat and completely shut down to prevent it or cable connection issues.

Hello everyone I'm new to this forum.
Interest in building a Cef50 small frame for my Wife. I see szzs have 720 or 700 battery. Which is most popular or better?
Are most people happy with their finish builds.
My wife is 160cm I'm thinking I'll probably build as a mullet.
Thanks in advance.

Hello, I had a similar problem and sometimes when I turned it on it gave error 30. The solution was simple and laborious because I had to disassemble the motor, I disconnected the cables and sprayed contact cleaner, waited for it to dry well, reconnected it and had no more problems.
Great info. Tnx, I'll try later and hope that this will solve the issue.

Almost 2 years of riding it, the CEF50 w/720Wh is the most ridden of my 3 e-mtbs. Why?

1) It's the biggest travel (I got 180/165 out of it).

2) It's almost 9 lbs lighter than my full powered M600-120Nm trail bike for better agility and lofting as well as lifting on the hitch (saves my lower back).

3) 75Nm is enough for me in most solo riding conditions and some group riding scenarios, if not hardcore peeps. (One caveat: Bafang needs to firmware update to add the original superboost 85Nm mode and stronger eco and walk modes.). I've never had a problem in turbo overheating, but I do use it sparingly for up to 5 minutes on a steep.

4) Best "bang for the buck". I get the performance of a customized high spec carbon frame that seems very durable, better than average customer support, and a build that's lighter for a cost of around $5.5K. I had transfered my higher end Onxy Carbon wheelset over but most was catching big sales with online retailers or getting new from the previous year model.

SZZS the manufacturer has been proactive in making modifications like offering UDH and going back to the traditional internal cable frame routing on the newer frames, which now have a nice integrated top tube display. Overall, the company seems more responsive than DengFu and LightCarbon (my other two emtb companies) which were already fairly responsive. (My Chinese carbon analog frame companies were sketchy at best).

A mention on Bafang motors. The drive units seem to be very durable, definitely powerful, reasonably smooth,. and cost much less in general. Customer service direct lacks because they want the customers to go the retailer which may be crap in support depending. I've heard SZZS does support the motor and battery well. All the Bafang motors are fairly straight forward to work on (DIY) and lube which is an advantage in the Emtb motor industry. I have the full power spectrum: the massive M620-160Nm, the M600-120Nm, and the lightweight m820-75Nm.

Overall, the little Bafang M820 puts out good torque, with no downhill rattle, but average motor whur in higher modes. The 720 Wh battery appears to be reliable and gets me a range of 25-30 miles using high power modes in rolling terrain with short bursts of techy climbing. I'm also an experienced but very heavy rider.

My wishlist. Bafang has gotten more innovative and I'm hoping that they will eventually develop a motor-gearbox unit ASAP! If so, I think SZZS could be a company capable of making another cost-savings, quality frame for it like the CEF50.🍻

Thanks very much for your reply lots of information I wanted to here. We travel in a camper van with our bikes ATM we have 2 Giant Trance E but they are heavy. IF I build one for my Wife and if goes well I'll probably build one for me.

Some more info about the problem. I cleaned all the contacts with electric contact cleaner. I also checked battery voltage and it's seems that battery is fine, but the problem must be somewhere else. As you can see from photos.

For my M600 e-mtb I have two smaller batteries both manufactured by Bafang. One is still working well! The other always showed full 48V but would intermittently provide power when using it. I took it to a local bike shop. The LBS mechanic, whose owner was an electrical engineer (he inspected it too) said the intermittence was likely do to one or more foul cells given the behavior. I had them diagnose it for documentation, as it was only 3 months out of the 1 year warranty by Bafang.

They wouldn't open up the sealed battery casing to physically inspect It. It would have voided the warranty. They needed to demonstrate the battery was untampered with by me-the owner, or them the shop. The Chinese (on Alibaba) retailer eventually warrantied it because Bafang did. It took another 5 months and a lot of cajoling by me to make the claim good by the sketchy retailer. (I've never used them since).

Anyway, Bafang usually does a solid job...our SZZS battery appears well made too. But cells can die prematurely. Anyway at least your documenting all your procedures if you do have to go that route.💪

Hi,
For the CEF50 m820 kit do you recommend buying the zf battery pack 36V 720W or the smaller bafang pack. This is for reliability and to properly work with the bafang display. ( And which one do you recommend?)
Thank you.

I ordered size S. I'm 1.69 tall.
The linkage and rear triangle is the same for all sizes. It's the front triangle that changes: small shortest and extra large with the longest top tube/head tube or reach. So, the 55 stroke should work the same. If not, you can just shorten the travel by adding spacers.

I will try to mount 210x50 as the manufacturer says, I have the FOX FLOAT X FACTORY 210X55. Is there a tutorial where it explains how to put spacers and where to buy them?

Check YouTube for the float x spacer tutorial or go to the ridefox.com website. I believe Fox has plastic "horseshoe"discs that can be purchased. New shocks will typically have a spacer or two in the packaging box, but can be ordered on line specifically for the year/model.

I have the Rock Shock Superdeluxe that uses rubber bands, so I'm not knowledgeable on the newer Fox shocks.

But in general, you have to unscrew the air can which is fairly easy. They are made so that the customer can DIY customize the travel with spacers, usually shorten it if you find that your frame bottoms out a lot. I just do small drops and bumps/jumps, so I never have found a need for spacers in my rear shock.

The Bafang motor will talk to the display and give very detailed information. The Bafang battery is a smaller capacity and hence it is lighter, but it will not last as long on a ride. The 720wh battery is made by a third party for SZZS. It is double the capacity but it is not a "smart" battery so it will not talk to the display with details about the batter. You will get basic charge level but that it is it.
