For those who don’t have Auto mode after the newest update it is more likely that the motor was built before Auto mode had been announced.

In this case you will need to see a dealer and have him install Auto onto the motor with the appropriate Bosch diagnostics software. That’s a prerequisite before being able to select Auto in the list of installed modes.

The same will be true for eMTB short crank mode. In the beginning that version of the eMTB mode hadn’t been available for the smart system.

Unfortunately it’s possible that some manufacturers do not allow all modes on every model and then nothing can be done.

I did the update on my Cube 160SL, it has short cranks option in the mode list but no Auto.

Ummm, I don´t think so, I have Emtb Short Crank installed on my Orbea Wild 2023 but no Sport mode, and As I can read you said the Sport is Older than EMTB Short Cranks.

Sport mode was available connecting the bike on the LBS, but now we could do it by yourself...

If you have a service report on your app it will show you which modes are on your motor. This was mine last summer. I wasn’t aware new modes can be added. Just thought they could be turned on/off. I’ve got a 22 stereo 140.

In the past Trek had some mods on their bikes that caused errors in Bosch Smart System for that imho Bosch should not be blamed:

I'd refrain from the update at the moment, first ride today, the speed and mileage are all wrong now. 🤬

Someone at Bosch had a brainfart.
My bike just asked if I wanted to update the firmware.

but it won't update the firmware until all components listed under components are available.
including a HR.... so literally had to stand next to the bike with my watch broadcasting my HR just so that it would update.,
it kept pausing the update transfer every 5-10seconds as well thinking a component had left the bike........

LBS. The bike can’t sense your newly fitted short cranks.
With the eMTB mode for short cranks installed and activated the motor will compensate for the lower rider power due to shorter cranks. This will make it easier for you to reach the higher progressive support levels.

I'm afraid this update only works on bosch systems that are 'smart', my 2023 cube stereo, for example, is not 'smart'.

I have the 2023 Cube Stereo 160 Actionteam, and the update works on this bike. I have Auto and I have to say after riding it today on a lane / track ride with steep climbs, I don’t think I need Turbo anymore. It’s a superb mode for varied terrain.

With the Auto mode being more power efficient than eMTB and Tour modes, I can see myself using this and Eco only.

I tend to agree with you. I've only used Auto for a relatively short ride and found it a bit of a handful on a particular trail which had a steep, debris strewn descent into a boggy, slippery dip and then rose steeply up another narrow, debris strewn climb. I failed twice to get traction as I left the boggy dip and couldn't control the wheelspin, the third time I tried it in e-mtb and made it relatively comfortably. Maybe I'd just learnt on the first two attempts but my impression was that I had more control in that situation in e-mtb.... just my two penneth.

Older LED Remotes will first need a firmware update. Without that even the dealer can’t see and install Auto mode. Some dealers don’t know this.

Not in every case. Many bike manufacturers deliver bikes with standard eMTB enabled even when there are short cranks installed. They simply pre-configure all motors with the same setup and don’t care in which model bike with which cranks the motor will go.

When I got my Simplon Rapcon Pmax it actually came with Sport enabled instead of eMTB.

I don't really ride off road, I mainly do tracks / trails / lanes unlike most of you on here, but I really appreciate that information.

Appreciated report. I can imagine AUTO pushing things too hard on slippery ground. I really was surprised at the pickup when pushing up some steep hills this afternoon, it made it incredibly easy. Most of my riding is rural / lanes / tracks and AUTO is really idea for that.

So even if you have 175 cranks like a mad man, set your bike profile to short cranks for more POWAH?
I bet it's just the default profile but with a tiny bit more assist getting upto speed, which you could set yourself anyway?

Bosch have updated their Flow App and ebike system with a decent update. I've been testing it for a few weeks:

- Can now pair Garmin as a Heart Rate Monitor (and display Heart Rate on KIOX)
- Can now choose modes on the bike (Tour+ / Auto / Turbo etc) no longer need to go to a dealer to do this
- New DYNAMIC display mode on KIOX, it changes the display dynamically if you are descending / climbing / standstill

Whether belt, band or smartwatch: heart rate monitor in the smart system The community has spoken - and we've listened to you: A popular feature is now coming to the smart system. With immediate effect, you can connect your heart rate monitor to your eBike via Bluetooth and track your heart rate on Kiox 300 or Kiox 500 while riding.

To connect, you use the eBike Flow app. Here's how it works: For example, have your chest strap ready, go to the eBike Flow app settings under "My eBike" > "eBike Pass" > "Components" and add your new device. Please note that the device must be in connection mode to be paired. In addition, you must actively add this new screen on Kiox 300 or Kiox 500 - via the "Display configuration" function under "My eBike".

Uphill, downhill: Discover the elevation graph of your next ride With immediate effect, you can keep an eye on the elevation graph of your current ride on Kiox 300 or Kiox 500 and be pleased with what you have already achieved. While you navigate, your display also shows you which ascents and recovery phases await you.

The new "Elevation" screen can also be added in the eBike Flow app using the "Display configuration" function under "My eBike". And don't forget: there must always be a connection between the phone and eBike in order to utilise the benefits of this function.

Favourite riding modes - put together what suits you best.
With this update, we give you the opportunity to put together your four favourite modes from all the riding modes available for your eBike - and customise them as usual. Instead of the economical Eco mode, you can use the Auto mode, for example, which automatically adapts the support to the environmental conditions.

You can find this new function on the home screen or in the settings of the eBike Flow app under "Individual riding modes". Turn support into motivation. New displays for Kiox 300 and Kiox 500: "Use of riding modes" and "Power share"

Two new screens for Kiox 300 and Kiox 500 now show you how you are doing on your current ride. Simply select the appropriate riding mode while riding and you will see how your own performance compares to the motor support. To see the "power distribution" in percent in the display, use the screen of the same name.

Maybe this will motivate you to achieve your fitness goal next time with less support from the electric motor. You add the new screens using the display configuration function under "My eBike".

Navigate flexibly while riding: Quick Menu for Kiox 300 and Kiox 500

You can customise destinations by starting navigation to one of your most recent destinations. You can also stop your currently active navigation. To do this, hold down the selection button of the LED Remote, Mini Remote or Purion 200 for longer than one second without removing your phone from your pocket.

Hey Rob, follow you on YT maybe can do video on this? I sent it last year on the loan wolf I think it was them using the update they are now using auto over turbo all the time now they said, I just got the Cube stereo 160 Action team first ebike but not sure of the smart system just yet its a massive difference from my Old DH days lol nit been out on it yet this weekend heading out its not been updated, not seen an update for it but will check again now maybe thats it reached us in UK? I'm looking forward to this first ride on the ebike I must admit I just hope it's as good as people make out

I watched the loam wolf or lone wolf a couple weeks ago testing it last year when they got the update using Auto all the time and instead of using turbo they were saying, it's still not showing on My new ebike with smart ssystemive only had it a couple of weeks just need to get out and used to it! The auto and sport mode was added not sure what we are getting and or if it's removing presets? Cheers

We have the same bike I think - I have the 2023 Actionteam which is blue with orange forks.

You can only run four modes at any time. You can go into the Flow app, see all eight and change the ones you want to make available. It will tell you that you can only choose four.

I had TURBO / EMTB / AUTO / ECO initialised and there was only 3 miles difference between its predicted distances left for AUTO and ECO.

I was using AUTO for considerable uphill stretches on steep rural roads / tracks and it made hardly any difference to the battery consumption (I was monitoring it closely), yet it felt very similar to TURBO.
