My BBSHD was damn near silent too, great motor.

Yeah I absolutely loved mine, 160nm and silent at full wack. In fact a shunt modded bbshd pushing out 4000-4500w with a metal reduction gear is still around 10 times more quiet then the m560

I don’t know of one, it’s annoying that it requires it, but I guess is all part of the silly speed laws related to e-bikes.
Hi all, first post here. Recently bought an eMTB with Bafang M560, this thread has got some good information in, thanks for sharing.
I’ve deduced mine is a new 500W as it has a sticker (not etching) and has only been offered for my bike for a couple of months, replacing the M510.
I have two friends I ride with, one with an M620 and another with an M600. The M620 is crazy loud, but the M600 is incredibly quiet compared to my M560. I’d say my motor noise is not offensive but I am a bit disappointed it’s so loud vs the M600 and I really can’t understand why.
We had the M600 open recently to clean, grease and check bearings and I was surprised to find it has a steel gear (not nylon) but yet it’s almost silent, even as configured to 750w.
Other than that I’d say the M560 has been great so far. It has modes 0 to 5 and I haven’t found the need to use 5 out in the wild. With my SRAM 11S gearing 10-42T with 34T chainring this thing can climb really well in mode 3 & 4. That said I’m going to fit a 32T this week and test that on some steep stuff.

This is what I see from the info section of the bike display. 1009BF.
As for overrun, it's a fraction of a second, just enough to skip a pedal if I need to glide over a rock. I certainly wouldn't want less overrun. With my limited experience i'd say the overrun is perfect and consistent with my friends M600 on a similar bike.

I can confirm my M560 has reduced power from 20% down. The behaviour seems to be capped at mode 3 of 5. Modes 1-3 seem to work normally, modes 4 & 5 seem capped at mode 3 assistance.

Can you screenshot from the bafang app? This info is not very clear with regards of the controller fw.
I’ve never used a Bafang app. I’ll see if I can download it and let you know.
The bafang app is useful if You want to change ride parameters without hooking up to BESST.

You need to put 250kms on it before it will start to quiten down, the gears seem to need to "wear" into mesh with each other. Both my M600 and M820 were awful sounding until they had a bit of mileage on them. The M510 I have was quiet straight off.
If only that was true. Mine got louder after 250km. And kept getting louder till it completely failed just after 2000km. If your motor sounds like an army of DeWalt drills chasing you down trail, then putting more use into it won't fix the problem. If it's anything like mine, there would be bearly any grease in the motor from factory.
I think mine has a failed one way bearing from the problems I'm having, motor spins but it won't move the chainring
Bafang are replacing the motor for me under warranty atm

Bit like all those E10 frames that you are purporting to be breaking up, seems I have both good quiet engines and a good frame.
@dazirl you must be one of those unlucky souls that always seem to be the recipient of the worst one of any brand.
Unfortunately I can’t access the Bafang app with my bike according to the brand (Hybridizer). I tried anyway and the app won’t find my bike so I guess they have a tweaked FW. The screen (in frame) does have a Hybridizer splash screen so I assume this.
According to them my FW version is MMG5300C4819F801007.4
I need to look into it more.

And how is the new engine, you yourself were quoting what was it 20k miles a year on bikes, I’m sure you will already have done at least 500km’s.
Honest review please backed up with sound recordings at 1m, compared to a Bosch engine at the same distance with a recorded power meter comparison of the two, under the same conditions. Without that scientific proof then your words are just that, words.

When the replacement motor comes we will see how that sounds after the 250km break In period. The bike is currently in pieces as I'm giving it a full service before the new motor arrives.
Just got word today that my replacement motor is being shipped. Over the weekend I will dismantle the old motor and we shall find out what's failed. I'll gladly show you what's gone wrong with it. From talking to other m560 users that have had a similar failure it's the one way bearing that's failed. The motor runs but it does not engage the chainring, be it from throttle, pedals, or walk mode. From what I've been told it was a problem with first and second versions of the motor. Yes it's weird that it's happened to a third generation one, so it will be good to see if it's the same issue

You need DPC245 v3.0 and also good firmware there - v1.2 works. And maybe also correct controller firmware.
Anyway that version 7.4 you have I am not sure if is OK, that 7.4 versions was very first beta test version. I would reflash to 25A (instead of your 19A) version - much more fun.
Thanks. What would be the difference and how do you suggest I update it?
If i am not wrong, the 25a has different bootloader. The first gen may not be able to flash it.

Yes, there was some controllers with different bootloader. Looks like it was USA version of motor in the begining(now there is max 750W version, and 500W).
I have firmwares also for this motor version. Also one USA motor on the bench for testing.
