- I am 5ft 10 with a 33in inseam and currently ride a Large 2021 Hightower which fits bang on with the 475 mm reach, I am looking at a medium in these I guess? I have been burned before as had a Large YT Jeffsy which I bought blind and it was def too big for me so want to make sure
- Battery options did most folk upsize their battery when they ordered?
-How does it feel for weight as looks on the heavyside for carbon at 24 kg+ and is it noticeable (i.e. does it just plow on the DH sections?)
- I am identical measurements to you and have opted for the Strive in size M, it's due today so I can give better feedback once I've thrown my leg over it but It's interesting what you say about the Hightower and Jeffsy as geometry suggests it should be the other way around based on the numbers:

Hightower - 475mm reach - 76 degree seat tube
Jeffsy - 470mm reach -77 degree seat tube

-I opted for the 750wh battery but more for future proofing/resale value as I had a 625wh Trek Rail and very rarely run out of juice.

- A controversial opinion I am sure but weight on an ebike isn't as noticeable as you'd think, I found riding characteristics to be more noticeable. To give an example of this, I personally owned a Trek Rail 9.8 carbon (22kg ish) and my brother has a near identical spec Trek Rail 7 alloy (24kg ish) and after riding them back to back, even swapping bikes for a ride, I couldn't obviously notice the 2kg on the same bike when on trails or jumps only when lifting it only the bike rack HOWEVER my alloy Kenevo was also 24/25kg and did feel noticeably heavier than the Trek Rail but I think more due to riding characteristics of 150/160mm vs 180/180mm suspension. @Rob Rides EMTB has owned an alloy and carbon version of the Rail and ridden many bikes at different weights so it would be interesting to get his thoughts on this. I know he rated the Strive highly so that's good enough for me.

Hi Folks!
I'm in the market for an eMTB, already rode several bikes, including the Focus Jam2, Scott Patron eRide, and NS E-Fine1, but I decided Canyon would be a better bang for the buck.

I was initially committed to buying a Spectral:ON CFR (2022 model, from Canyon outlet) but now, that the new Strive:ON CFR has been released, I'm puzzled. Since I have my order for Spectral:ON CFR waiting for payment, I sort of still have a choice.

I'm living in Poland, and I'll be using the bike on the local trails near Gdansk (a hilly area) and in the mountains occasionally. I also plan some trips to the Czech Republic and Spain with this bike.

From the beginning, I was planning to upgrade a fork and a shock on the Spectral:ON. Wanted to go with Fox 38 Factory to bump the suspension to 170mm in the front; and (eventually) an X2 on the back.

Pros for Spectral:ON:
- XTR drivetrain and brakes
- 900Wh battery
- Better looking
- Carbon wheels
- Kashima everything 🤩

Pros for Strive:ON:
- Bosch motor
- Built-in GPS and alarm
- Enduro geometry
- Already has 170/160mm suspension
- Easier to buy a replacement battery

Since I'm planning to upgrade fork and shock I can take those two out of the equation.
So the question is basically:
- Is the enduro geometry and the Bosch motor on Strive:ON better than the 900Wh battery, XTR kit, and carbon wheels on Spectral:ON?
- How does the range compare between 750Wh Bosch and 900Wh Shimano systems?
For me Bosch vs Shimano is the tipping point, Bosch all day every day and twice on a Sunday.

Also worth noting Canyon are clear on upgrades and what the warranty will cover. My friend owns a Spectral and spoke to Canyon about putting 220m or 200mm rotors front and back and they said the frame is designed for 200/180mm so advised against it for warranty purposes, I imagine a travel increase would be the same.

Thanks for the detailed response much appreciated, it was a 2017 YT I used to have so the stack on it was very big for my wee legs.

Got it today, the size feels great after just a quick test, I am 1.83 cm and took a medium, will take it for a ride tomorrow. :D

Looks really stout with the saddle down like that!

Is all the paint gloss? Or is the rear section matte?

Everything is glossy, I thought the rear metallic part would be matte. I must say the color looks pretty good in-real life, it has for sure grown on me, but it's very hard to capture it though. 😀

Very nice to see your bike at 22.4Kg mean that My Small strive with a 500wh could be somewhere close to 21.5kg
So very close to my Heckler 2020 with 170mm fox factory fork and 165 mm rear travel

2024 X2 has some revisions to help with reliability. Let me get some info..

Wow, hopefully that will all make the shock much more reliable then. And can we assume that all these new Strive:On bikes will have this new shock?

I was thinking to fit this it's fully custom made to your bike, weight and riding style.
this guy have very good reputation in France.
It's only 100gr more than a X2 if you scroll down in the comment. one guy weight both.

Sadly not - my demo bike from the video had the 2023

BUT I also heard that if there are issues Fox rebuild / replace for 2024 spec

Ah bugger. Typical! How much does a 2024 Factory X2 set one back then?!

Is there an easy way to tell the difference between the 2023/2024 models? I guess at some point there will be a stock change and they will start coming with the newer shocks?

Sorry I should have stated - Large frame. But there’s a load of space in there! Might just not quite be slammed on a medium.

Brakes - Hope Tech4 V4 are just next level and everything else feels weak now I’m used to them.

Bars - No performance gains in carbon bars IMO, especially 35mm where they can be way too harsh and stiff, happy with these alu Title MTB 31.8 50mm rise

I actually think the OneUp and the OEM droppers are extremely similar.

@Rob Rides EMTB i know that Canyon has their own side loading water bottle cage (I think it’s the one on your build?) Can you see any issue with fitment and use of a Fidlock bottle mount?

The Spectral On only has one water bottle bolt and a bit in the frame so you have to use the Canyon side load water bottle mount but the Strive On has the conventional two bolts so can fit a fidlock

Do you think the L would take the Oneup 240mm?

If the OEM was 200mm I wouldn't have changed it, 170mm is so 2019 :D
