Try fricking Cactus. Was out play riding on our MX bikes and seen dad have a bit of a crash - raced over to see why he was not stading up and crashed into a cactus patch. Those fockers seem to sense when you move and fire out more barbs that seem to find the unprotected or not previous hit...
Based on the 2019 models I agree with @MrBrownstone - the Shimano is the most natural feeling (especially for a new eMTB rider). Doesn't come on too hard right off and has little or no over-run when you stop peddling.
Saying that, I love the G4 Bosch even if it does have a little over-run.
1. Three
2. Started with a 2019 Scott eRide Genius 920 (Shimano) - bought a 2019 Levo Comp (Brose) and ran 2 bikes for a while then sold the Levo and bought a 2020 Scott eRide Genius 900 Tuned (Bosch).
3. Just bought the 900 Tuned and don't have too much time on it due to a non MTB injury...
When @duk916 and I did the Waikato River Trail I had the 700Wh fitted to the Levo and until we got to the hilly stuff south of Aratiatia I was running at close to 1km = 1% of battery. Once I started needing Trail a lot more and then usage ramped up, but at the end it was 74.5km with 12% remaining.
It is interesting that. On my first Scott I was only getting 40-41km on a Rotorua loop using mostly Eco with Trail used on a few climbs.
The bike came fitted with Schwalbe MagicMaryfront and Hans Dampf rear. Discussing this with my LBS we fitted Maxxis Rekon F & R.
The difference on the same...
I will say, after living with the Levo and the Shimano powered Scott - the over-run on the Levo was a pain and a blessing. It was a pain when peddling hard out and trying to blast through nice, fast, fun trails but it was a blessing on gnarly uphills with step-ups and roots (as long as you...
I never thought my e8000 lacking in power. I used to use Eco on most all trails with Trail mode used for climbs and Turbo only used if I hit a blind corner and found a sharp climb immediately after (that is usually lazy or bad trail reading on my part).
Have always wondered when I read head to...
Bar width?
Get down in the push-up position and have someone measure the outside of your hands - then add a little bit - say 60mm. You will then have a bar width that gives you the best leverage based on your build.
Sweep?
Hold your arms straight out and the natural angle of your grip without...
Branded clothing and footwear has pricing that is quite amazing to start with - and that is just regular street wear. I was in retail for a while when I was a youngster and was being groomed to become a company buyer, which gave me the opportunity to visit several factories. This was in the...
Pffttt - all the arguments about being like BMX or what side of the road you ride on are preferences. I mean to say, the clutch on a motorcycle is on the left and the front brake is on the right - you don't see those changing over do you? In every case I have seen a rider with a missing brake...
Me, I would go for the following:
XTR M980 10 Sp Shifter
XT Shadow Plus RD-M786 Derailleur
Deore CS-HG 500 11-42 Cassette
CH-HG54 Chain if wanting to stay Shimano (or my pref KMC X10)
Not certain if the DT Swiss hub will take 10sp - best to contact DT Swiss support.
DT Swiss Support
If you are going to do it then replace your inner cable as well - don't re-use.
Shifter
Inner Cable
10 Sp Derailleur
10 sp Cassette
Freehub (maybe)
Not certain what is on there now - Shimano or SRAM?
Helped a friend change recently and the SRAM 11-36 10sp cassette fitted perfectly after...
