Yes, Bonty stems are required for the knock block system. But for the L & XL frames at least, the fork clears the down tube, so the knock block is redundant. There are lugs on the top bearing cover that slot into machined recesses in the headset spacers. Grind the lugs off and you're good to go...
Thank you! My first ride with the OneUp carbon bars, I really like them, they definitely make a difference. Yes hot weather all weekend, our summers do seem to be getting drier and hotter. But it could easily be freezing cold and pissing down in a day or two
@steve_sordy your geography lesson has served you well! Yes it's the foehn wind, which gives us on the east coast a strong, hot, dry wind while its barrelling with rain on the west coast. The Southern Alps exist because of two tectonic plates colliding, there is a fault line up the middle of...
Merino are also very big in Australia (the breed originated in Spain, so I'm sure it will be farmed in the UK too). In general it does rain heaps on the West Coast of the South Island, but it is a lot drier on the East Coast. We are getting drought more frequently, up and down the country, as...
Unfortunately diesel trucks, diesel trains, diesel ships, jet-fuel airplanes are a part of the supply chain of almost everything we buy, certainly my bike, and all the components I have bought to upgrade it. Everything would have come in a container, on a ship. We are lucky in this country that...
Perhaps! ? But in my experience, polyester blend clothing really pongs after just one ride, the merino, simply doesn't. It will eventually stink with continued wearing, but not as bad, or as quickly, as polyester. Whether the wearer stinks or not is another matter entirely!
I've been buying the "coolite sphere" for summer, it's a blend of merino and "Tencel", which is made from wood fibre of all things. So still a natural material
I very much prefer merino over polyester. Merino stays warm even when it's damp, and doesn't stink. Better temperature regulation as well. Polyester gets cold and clammy and reeks after just one ride. Mixture of Icebreaker base layers and Mons Royale. It's more expensive, but for comfort and the...
No, changing under load is something I always try to avoid. What I have been doing though, is deep cleaning the factory grease from the new chain before applying my own lube. I have since learned that this is not best practice so for my next new chain I will do things differently and hopefully...
Hi, welcome! I have the same bike, and I think the Shimano 12 speed is a really sweet drivetrain, I've never had a Sram drivetrain but I've seen a few on here swapping their Sram out for Shimano (especially SX and NX). I only got 500kms out of my first chain, which isn't that great compared to...
Those are pretty cool features on the Lupine. The latest Sixpack connects to your phone, mine is an older model that doesn't. But you choose a setting based on desired burn time, or use one of the adaptive settings, where the light adjusts the brightness using built-in accelerometer and...
That's definitely extremely bright! Brighter than the Exposure Sixpack. But...more than twice the price of the Sixpack, which has more features, and the convenience of a built-in battery. I'm not sure I would have chosen differently, even if I had the budget for the Lupine.
