Torpedo 7 have the Whyte! A mate of mine just bought one and loves it. My first ride on an eeb was on one, got me hooked they handle very well. Check out the Whyte forum on here, they seem to have a very strong following. Battery is a PITA to remove though ;)
Hey @kiwibiker , personally I find the Bosch 625 battery more than enough to wear me out on a good 3-4 hr ride. A pity to restrict yourself to bikes that have the piggy back option, though it is a good idea. But you can always carry a spare battery in a proper battery backpack if your injury...
I'm pretty sure there's only 2 ISCG tabs, so you can run a chain guide but not a chain guide/bash guard combo. Well you could, but you'd miss out the third bolt, which would make the guard less effective, it would probably just bend
As far as I know, Shimano license their microspline, unlike their old HG freehub which is open source, so it's more expensive to make after market microspline cassettes and freehub bodies. I don't think there's many non-Shimano microspline cassettes around. Garbaruk make one, but at $250 USD you...
That e-bike bug is very catchy! My friend rode my Rail for 15 minutes and was hooked, he's just bought a Whyte e160RS!
100% if you can charge the battery on the bike there's nothing not to love about the Whyte, I think in some ways it's a much better package than the Rail, they've paid close...
Welcome to the forum. Gorgeous bike! My first ride on an eMTB was on a Whyte e150s I hired at a bike park. I loved it and was hooked. With all the weight down low, the Whyte is very planted on the trail and an awesome bike to ride. I ended up with a Rail though, mainly because I needed to take...
I definitely feel very lucky I bought mine when I did, especially for the price I paid. Considerably more expensive now, and that's if you can actually get your hands on one.
Didn't know about the 8-bit pack pliers. The bike nerd in me loves these, but cheap they are not. I'm looking at Granite Designs Talon, simple quick link pliers & tyre lever combo.
Have you tried straightening it? Find the section where it's rubbing and bend the rotor gently in the required direction with a (clean) adjustable wrench
If it's just bent, and in my experience even new rotors can have a small bend, then yes it can be straightened. If it is actually warped, I think replacement is the only option, because you'll just end up chasing the "bend" round and round the rotor
All good, thanks for your thoughts! I had read that the Zeb was easier to set up but it sounds like the 38 isn't all that bad. My mate isn't the sort of rider to be delving into the settings and tweaking this and that, and I just want him to enjoy the bike. From what you've said he should get...
@The Hodge your story made me laugh! A mate is getting the same bike as you, he's not experienced at all with mountain bike tech, and I feel the Fox 38 could be a bit complicated for him to set up right. How did you find it? I was trying to push him more towards the S model with the Zeb but he...
