I suppose that could be an issue, I thought red loctite was appropriate given the lockring is not tightened to especially high torque, and the fact that, as you say, it self-loosens due to suspension kick back. Guess I'll find out when its time for s new chain ring lol
@Doug Stampfer I have a creak from the downtube area. It's actually the battery, there's a small amount of movement at the top. Pretty sure there wasn't that much movement when I first did the battery alignment procedure. But now it moves a little when I push on it, makes the exact same creaking...
@WilkyWay torque settings for all the major bolts on the Rail, including motor mount bolts, pinned at the top of the Trek section ?

That's really good to know! Going by your experience the upgrade would probably satisfy my needs as well, leave me with some change to spend on a shock
Read this with interest Craig! Somewhere down the line I'll either be doing the same upgrade as you or perhaps fitting a Zeb. From your ride impressions sounds like I need to budget for a new shock (maybe coil) as well
Only if you're using cheaper Sram NX cassette, which uses the Shimano HG freehub. Sram GX and up uses the Sram XD freehub as pictured in your 2nd photo. Splines vs threaded. Different system. No need to change your cassette though,
just change your freehub from alloy to a steel one
My 2 cents is....I think the Rail represents much better bang for buck, and the Bosch motor hasn't had the ongoing reliability issues of the Brose. Full disclosure I am a Rail owner and its a great bike. If you are swinging towards the Levo I believe they have extended the warranty period. But...
Sram doesn't use a splined system like Shimano does. With Sram all the cogs are attached to a spider which then threads onto the freehub . Good system but as @maynard says cassettes are expensive. You can get a steel Shimano HG freehub as a direct replacement for the alloy one in your photo...
Well changing from acoustic to e-MTB is just a change in bike, it doesn't change the rider. A rider who has always had mechanical sympathy for their drivetrain will carry that over to e-MTB, those who don't, won't...I certainly don't grind in harder gears, the motors don't work like that, you...
@Doug Stampfer Oh I didn't see the Sram NX chains on Evo. It's up to you of course, but NX is at the bottom of the Sram pecking order . If it was me, I would definitely go for the SLX chain, it's only $18 more and it's going to work much nicer with the Shimano hyper-glide drivetrain than the...
Yes I highly rate the Whytes, they are very stable/planted on the trail, ride and handle very well. My first go on an e-MTB was on one of Bike Glendhu's hire bikes (after the Bonty hub failure on my Remedy lol) and I was hooked after that. I couldn't live without the easily removable battery on...
100% !!! They've all gone up in price. I'm definitely very pleased I made the jump when I did. But given that so many who live in Europe & the States are waiting another 6 months for their new bikes, I'm surprised the supply here is so good. I could get a Rail 7 from Evo today. It would just...
@Doug Stampfer Yes I suppose the Deore would be longer lasting if you use the 51T a lot, since that cog is steel vs alloy on the SLX. But really I was just surprised to see them at the same-ish price, I expected the Deore to be at a lower price point.
With the chain checker tool, I think it's...
