Given that this is a fairly common fault, I don't understand why bike shops aren't doing the battery alignment on the bikes as a standard procedure before owners take delivery Seems a no brainer to me.
I've found some brands to be better than Park. I got the Park piston press for my brakes, but never found it was that easy to use. I now have the Bike Hand version which I think is much better plus it has a rotor truing tool on the other end .
@Thesag as @Darren says it's a common Trek fault, unfortunately. Follow the steps in the battery alignment .pdf at the top of the thread and you should have no further issues. However I would put a warranty claim in to get a new battery cover at the very least. Not good to have it all scratched...
Curious on what you base this theory? Given the cost and inconvenience of getting a bike shop to do everything, and the many YT videos on MTB maintenance, doing it yourself is both easy and attractive cost-wise. I don't think I'm alone in considering the mechanical side part of the...
@Doug Stampfer Cycleways in Chch stock Maguras, including the rotors @Slapbassmunky recommended.

Wouldn't mind giving those rotors a try, I've always found the Shimanos too noisy. At present I'm running stock Shimano on the...
I'm kinda hoping I'll get away with it, I used red loctite on the motor mounting bolts too and I've had the motor out several times without issue. I have now banned myself from using red loctite anywhere on my bike?
@Lawzio it's an FRX Mudhugger , which is actually front mud guard, but easily adapted. Got the idea from Sam Hill. Fits perfectly without trimming any length, but I did have to make my own holes for zip ties. Used Heli tape as well to protect the frame...
@dixie600mhz Glad you were able to get it sorted. I know what you mean though, I'm the same with cassette lock rings, light alloy components and easy to cross thread. And yes the chainring is super close to the chainstay. I'm dreading when the time comes to replace my chainring, I used red...
@dixie600mhz In my experience the o-ring isn't necessary, I found it impossible to tighten the lock ring nut without tearing the o-ring in any case. Curious as to why you feel you' need a replacement lock ring nut, if the threads are not damaged in any way you should be fine to re-use it
@Kernow @Gazzaaitken fair call fellas, I was wrong on this one. Were the two end caps included with the RIB cover for £25? Which backpack are you using?
The song was used a few years back by NZ Police in PR advertisements, kinda sticks in your head, I think a lot of Kiwis would be familiar with this song?
Nothing wrong with using a bit of silicone, but if too much is used too often it will actually start to break down the thin suspension grease ( eg slickoleum ) that is used in dropper posts and suspension. On the dropper, it is better to clean the stanchion and the seal, then unscrew the collar...
