I have not been able to get the log data but now for a second time, I have seen this live in the store with the technician logging in remotely, via the PC interface, Runing a software pack, and hay presto.....

And what did you see exactly? Apps names? Date and time of a bike access? Log of changes?

The software showed what interface was connected, ie Bluetooth or PC interface, and then noted dates and times although not correct as it was summer time so out by an hour, and then the words "authorised" and "unothorised"

That all I can tell you and I have asked for the log and noted it will not be provided

Because I know how Bluetooth works. I told you how they can determine "unauthorized tuning": current settings of your bike do not match factory settings and regulation settings (EP8).

I never said it was via Bluetooth. The shop uses a PC interface. And the log simply shows if the device connected was bluethooth connection or PC assuming, ip connected.

Either way, my bike, which I believe changed the regulation log after it crashed and now another bike, exhibit the same issues. ETube or what ever, somehow changed the regulation log.

I know that they are use PCE interface (I own it, as do many other Shimano bike owners). I'm telling you about your Bluetooth connections to your bikes. The bike/motor/display can not know, you connect to it through ETube or another App.

Ok so let's say it can't, why, why cant the motor which is where the software for the system sits, log that data. If you connect via the PC interface, which I also have, and Bluetooth, it's done in a very different way from a software perspective.

Bluetooth uses a different means of communication via the controller vs pc interface.

Yes, motor/display can determine which interface is used: Bluetooth or PCE. This is why it's not possible to change advanced settings on latest firmware via Bluetooth. But it can't determine is it original ETube App or STUnlocker because all commands which are used for a connection are the same.

@WogsRus, I have the PCE and connect it to my laptop. When I use Etube to see the logs and do diagnosis all I get are a list of errors - there's no mention of any region changes that are made or indeed what apps are used to connect to the system.

@Vadll, are you aware of any additional software features that a Shimano support centre may have? Because if it's just down to Etube then I can't see anything other than errors when I look.

I think they use the same "E-Tube Project for Professional" but with additional features which can be activated with the license key or something else.

From what I can see the E-Tube Project Professional is a re-badged version of E-Tube Project for Windows. This is the app that I use with my bike and all I get are logs containing error messages.

That being said ver 5.0.1 does say one of the new features is a warning notice to detect unauthorized drive unit tuning. I'll update my app and connect it to the bike to see what it has to say!

Actual version is 5.0.2 and I don't see any "warning notices" on my derestricted EP8 with custom settings

From what I could see, it wasnt ETube, it didn't appear to have a nice interface, more script based.

So does anyone have a Shimano key and used the full blown version? Of the latest ETube

I am ready to also jump into Stunlocker for my DUE7000 , i only wish to change region from AU to US/32kh/h!

• I will be performing it via android version of stunlocker
• Currently my E7000 is 4.6.0 (i have firmware to roll back to 4.5)
• My question is my android ETUBE app is ver 5.0, do i have to also roll back to version 4.0.2 ?
  • I found instructions from et***ing that instructs to use ETUBE 4.0.2 to rollback E7000 firmware to 4.5

You can use the actual ETube App version for the downgrade

Power and Torque settings can be set via Shimano PCE interface only

I do not think that's possible. Power and TQ limits were introduced in 4.1.+ firmware. But on 4.1+ firmwares it is impossible to change anything except an assist level. I tested these commands on my EP8 bike and they didn't work via Bluetooth.

Mmm, I just tested this on emax on my orbea rise and they were changed, and it did make a difference. After changing these params the new values appeared also on the stunlocker app (250,350,500W).

However when setting to 500W and 85nm the motor were doing some bad vibrations when battery < 30%.

I don't know how they did it but I know you are a very experienced developer with shimano motors so I trust your opinion a lot... Let me know if you need some screenshots. Thanks!

What is the firmware version on your motor?

"Other settings" are available with the Premium licence

Did you paid for the EMax licence? Or those features are available for "free"?

They are available for "free", you only have to pay 1$ to download the app. I have no problem paying for the stunlocker premium license. I do not need to change the region but the ability to change the max torque and power settings is very useful.

One other thing is that stunlocker allowed me to choose a 32T chainring size but emax won't allow me to select anything below 34T.
