Riding a tuned or deristricted EMTB is not a trivial offence and can have serious legal consequences. Also, many manufacturers can detect the use of a tuning device or deristricting method and may decline a repair under warranty if it was modified from the intended original specification. Deristricting EMTB's can also add increased loads for motors and batteries. Riding above the local law limit may reclassify the bike as a low-powered bike, requiring insurance, registration and a number plate.
Be aware of your local country laws. Many laws prohibit use of modified EMTB's. It is your responsibility to check local laws. Ignoring it, has potential implications to trail access, and risk of prosecution in the event of an accident.

Are you using Volspeed v2 as well?I've done 300 miles and smart lock on and no error. I'll think it may pick it after a few 1000 miles if the cadence doesn't match the speed but the bosch system doesn't know what chain ring I've got on software hopefully not.
Or eventually the total milage won't add up but who knows
Still love it I'm picking up speed now
Nice, my idea is do the same, to prevent send info to servers or something with the app running hideI have the volspeed V2 and done 80 miles so far with no issues just don't use the flow app and turn blue tooth off phone so far so good
YesAre you using Volspeed v2 as well?
Many thanks for the info
Ditto. It just works.Speedfun Furious
I experienced a relationship between speed and pedal torque…How safe is tuning nowadays? My commute involves many long, flat sections where I can reach speeds of around 40 km/h. Are error codes more likely to occur when riding at a faster pace?
Hi - just reading this thread and noticed you have a Bosch Smart System with software version 12.13.0 and have managed to avoid errors with a VolSpeed. How many miles have you done now, and what kind of rides (distance, speed, etc)? I fitted a SpeedBox 1.1 to my 12.13.0 smart system and got an error after ~70mls despite following all of SpeedBox's advice, so looking for any better alternatives.I've done 300 miles and smart lock on and no error. I like volspeed u can set speed u wantIf you have a rotor magnet, the answer is 100% Speedi. You won't get the top speed of a chip but for off road you don't need it
I live in a very windy city doing 20 in headwind is not nice.Had chips before, Speedi is just so much better, a simple , undetectable mechanical device that you can remove in 2 minutes
I can't readLike I said, Speedi for off road. Agree for road higher top speed would be better, just don't get caught or run anyone over!
Can’t say it, but they are able to do whatever they want, we don’t OWN the motor, we just have a licence to use it, even thought we bought itHay All. I'm just trying to catch-up on the Gen 4 Smart system de resisting info.
Something that are not complelty clear to me today on a valve magnet setup as there is a lot of history here.
Right now what is the best solution for wheel mounted mag models on the valve ?
IV seen Speedbox and Bikespeed , IV seen a lot of past issues with the Speed box but is that still the case ?
With regards to errors I have seen some people have them but are total lockouts still a thing ?
With these lockouts is it only dealers that can remove thes?
Is there risk of permanent lockouts ?
Thanks in advance for any information given.
