Forgot I repositioned the Kiox 300 to the center above the stem.

That was only possible by bringing this bracket to the right side.

Are that Invisiframe stickers on your bike ?

After advise in another tread, I ordered the SM E-Mountain standard. (66.99eur)
Yes, that's the saddle! I esw the M/L. You can get measured at most bike shops and their are vids on YouTube that show you how to do it at home. Great saddle for emtbs! The rear raised edge does indeed provide additional support when climbing and doesn't get in the way when dropping the saddle when going down.
But for me, that must have been the worst saddle I ever had.


But this is a post a few pages ago about the Core Prime version:

Super comfortable for longer rides


Here somebody else, not happy with the SM E-M standard, but happy with the Core Prime version.
The SM E-Mountain Core Prime is the only one that works for me, not cheap, but worth every penny. It's the fifth I tried in 2 years:

1 - Original Spesh that came with the bike - 2 months
2 - Selle Italia from my old Orange MTB - 1 month
3 - Ergon SM E-Mountain - a few months
4 - SQ Labs - about the same as the Ergon SM E-Mountain
5 - Ergon SM - Mountain Core Prime - almost a year now and the best I've ridden



So I ordered the double priced SM E-Mountain Core Prime now (118.88eur), I hope it's better !

Well, it seems the guys in the other tread are right.
When 12v lights option enabled, the previous Gen4 versions cut off at 6% or 10% battery level. (some legal stvzo requirement)
The so called "smart" Gen4 (bes3) recalculates the scale, cuts off at 0%, but preserves power for the lights. (43.2Wh ?)

Off to the store, to disable this madness. I'll cut into the wiring to tap directly into the 36V.

The "Ergon SM E-Mountain Core Prime" doesn't win the beauty price against the standard edition, but it looks and feels a lot more forgiving.
With the saddlebag mounted, the difference is a lot less notable.

Indeed, this saddle is a lot more comfortable than the others.
I don't really like the "roll" it allows.
That's surely part of the comfort, but disables bike position correction when off the saddle.

Back to the Front light.
I found a power source. The charge cable has 36V when the bike is powered on, zero when powered off.
A 22awg cable with a female 5.5mm x 2.1mm DC connector will be routed to the steering bar.

This is the smallest 12V-80V dumb lamp I could find with a decent (and angle adjusting) clamp:
It consumes 15W: 385mA at 41V (Fully charged 36V battery)
Just as a test, I connected it after a 8-80V ->12V buck converter, at 12V this lamp consumes 1.3A
I would have preferred 2 separate smaller lights of 8W, but I can't find them with the specs of this one.

A button on the handlebar close to the right grip will power it on/off

This solution will deplete 2% of the battery per hour I put it on.

I'm interested to see what wire taps you use for the 36v motor feeds...do you know what AWG the red and black lines are? And which Buck Converter did you go for? Where / how are you mounting it? Are you using an in-line fuse off the +ve?

I'm getting the Exposure flex-E MTB light soon, this will be how I power it.

No buck Converter. 36V through 22AWG to the light. Fuse I don't know yet.

I recently bent the derailleur cage a bit. Bent it back, everything's fine again.
So looked up the price of 2 derailleur cage plates, and from the start I also wanted a spare set of derailleur wheels.
Better to buy it complete:

For some reason cages are really expensive. It was only £10 more expensive to buy a full derailleur with the cage. Very annoying.

...and derailleur-shifter-cassette-chain kits are cheaper too.
Better to order a complete XT set at the beginning, for spares.

It's done. The front light (left) is now directly connected to the 36V (41V) of the battery.
The small one (right) has a battery inside, will be removed or stay there as spare.

Hello,
You fixed a GPS on the stem. How did you fix it? I have a Garmin Dakota on the handle bar but since the tube is tapered the holder fixed with cable ties tents to get loose.

It's on page 2 from this tread, with pictures, for the Garmin 830.
For the Garmin 1040 I had to add a stem ring to get the Garmin mount a bit higher.

The Garmin Dakota doesn't seem to have a Garmin mount at the back, you will have to buy or invent something else.

Shame on me! I remember having read it some time ago! :oops:

The Dakota is in a holder where it slides in/out from forward direction, where it collides with the Kiox - if in front of it. Could do something with a hing kind thing. Well, I will see what I can do or if I switch for Christmas to some other GPS.

In any case I will enjoy following your tweakings.(y)

This kind of adjustable mounts work very good the first 5 minutes on our MTB :)

For your original dakota mount, think the surface to the bars and the tension isn't big enough.

Did it on my TM and it made a cleaner and composed look and feel. Have ordered an acros ring which i will put in when brakes get a bleed and then the irc openings will be lower AND properly sealed for dirt with rubber push through cable throughputs.

A few days back I did a 40km night ride, the front light connected to the battery works very good too.
The bike shop just disabled the front lights port, normally I have my last 10% back too :)

The new "2023" range is out.
Our 160S(L) is now 160SLX


Available in White or Black, not in Sand or Blue anymore.
There is a "race" version in Olive, Grey and Iceblue, but that's completely different.

The price went from 4999eur to 5429eur which is +8.6%, just like my salary index correction, unfortunately my bank intrest rate is different.

If I would have to buy one now, and have the choice, I would still buy the '22 Desert Sand I have.

In our last ride there was a lot of deep mud.
With the Pirelli Scorpion M being used to <1mm tyre profile, the wheel slipped through a lot.

I chose the hardwall version: 3771800

I expect slightly more rolling resistance on dry asphalt, same behaviour on wet asphalt,
better traction and braking grip in mud, better predictable grip in corners.

I mounted the XT M8120 wide click pedals, a saddle toolbag, bell, lights and the Garmin.
The first impressions are very good !

You probably shouldn't mount a bag attached to your dropper post! Don't want to scratch that inner tube!
