I believe that the bad battery health is related to the battery "version", which is the letter at the end of the battery type.
My battery is two years old and its health is 98% and it has no version letter, I mean, it is BT-E8010. But I know that newer batteries are revisions B and C, ie...
EP8 is compatible with all Shimano batteries, many new bikes with EP8 still use the "old" 504W BT-E8010. If you are asking about displays, they are also compatible with any battery.
The FW update for display SC-E7000 makes it compatible with new EP8, among other improvements:
4.1.0
・Adapted for new drive unit (DU-EP800)
・Added last 3 digits of serial number to the device name display when connecting via Bluetooth.
・Improved connectability with Bluetooth.
・Adopted for My...
I believe I am the first to retrofit the new EP8 on a bike that originally had the E8000, attached you can see the graphic evidence, ha ha
Well, if in the future the E8000 of my Ghost broke down and I wanted to mount the EP8, then this is how it would look. The result is good, the mounting...
According this, motor is 36V so new released batteries will fit.

And last but not least, looks like there will be a new display SHIMANO SC-EM800, hopefully with BT compatible with Garmin, not like the trash SC-E8000
Hi Steve, did you notice big improvement with the 2.1 Charger. Do you have any regret over buying RCT3 instead the RC2? I have the same doubts as you regarding the cheaper RCT3 vs RC2
I a in the process of selecting it and I had the same problems to select the right upgrade kit, but finally I...
Come on guys (both), grow up!! Do not waste our time having to read your...whatever.
I know I am risking both of you joining forces to attack me, but what the f., I like to live dangerously.
There is a Facebook group where members are spending time trying to find solutions for some of the Shimano error codes, and looks like they have found a fix for the infamous E10 Error, and it is so simple:
" A member may have just found the answer we have been looking for. He changed his...
In my Shimano Steps E8000 bike, by using eTube APP I can check and update FW versions of motor, display, DI2 derailleur, Di2 rapidfire shifter, motor assistance rapidfire control. But battery does not have FW version nor can be upgraded.
With my analog 2006 Stumpjumper, my "incompetence threshold" is around 800m elevation gain, so I was missing interesting routes exceeding that. Since I bought my ebike I can do all the routes I was missing before and the sky is the limit. I still use the Stumpjumper once a week for easier routes.
This cable is part of the battery mount but I believe it can be purchased separately. If it is external, search for: Shimano Battery Connector BM-E8010
This is one sold out, but you can see what I mean

Shimano is not selling internal spares, your only choice is to find somebody with a broken unusable motor that is willing to canibalize it and sell you this connector at a reasonable price.
This thread is no longer available. Shimano lawyers censhorship?
Looks like some of the comments really hit a nail that Shimano does not want to disclose.
The switch has a magnet inside that can get loose, then it'll stop working. If this is the case, you'll need to fix it again. Try your local HW Store or even cell repair stores to buy the three blade screwdriver, it is not uncommon for cells and other electronic devices.
