E 8000 switch problem

After being left for a while when I was away my Assist level switch no longer works properly. The levers move reluctantly and don't return. I tried to disassemble the switch body but was defeated by the weird three pont screws. Has anybody managed to rescue a graunchy switch or shall I justgive up and get a E 7000 or E 6000 which are supposed to be a straight swap?

The switch has a magnet inside that can get loose, then it'll stop working. If this is the case, you'll need to fix it again. Try your local HW Store or even cell repair stores to buy the three blade screwdriver, it is not uncommon for cells and other electronic devices.

Spray GT85 into the switch and it should work freely again. Mine would always play up after a wet ride. Changed to the 6000 3 button in the end so much better .

My LBS blasted compressed air in there to clean it out. I've had zero problems since (until next winter I suppose).

Thanks for the assistance, this is probably something that is going to reoccur so I think the different type of switch is going to be the answer

Switch it out for the E7000. You won't regret it. Smaller/more compact, less exposed to breakage, cheaper, and more reliable.

Bent my 8000s a few times and they would go stiff/stick. and then eventually one set stopped working consistently and also weirdly started causing interference to my magicshine lightset making the remote for that not work properly.
Replaced under warranty. But then switched to 7000 switches. As said by everyone, they're waaaaaay nicer controls. and have been faultless (3 sets - on 3 Ebikes)
crashed the shit out of the bikes and never been damaged

Is the wire of SW-E7000 switch detachable?

It is harwired into the switch unit, the other end has the di2 plug for connecting to the dispaly

It also comes with the rubber bands to run it along your handlebar if you want, which keeps the cable out of harms way
