Yes, I see a decrease in range. I keep the GPS track of all my rides together with the battery statistics and the range decreases similarly to the decrease of the battery health.
Besides that if I were to sell my battery, the buyer would ask for the current battery health, and the market value...
This is from a friend's Canyon with Shimano EP800. I have to say that in my 3 ebike groups he and myself are the only ones with Shimano motors, the rest of up to 25 people have 3 Brose, 2 Giants with Yamaha motor and 18 Bosch. I believe that these issues and the way that Shimano is handling...
Software issue does not mean that software is reporting an incorrect low Battery Health but in reality the cells and battery have a good health and the range is as good as new.
Sofware issue means that the firmware in BMS Microprocessor is defective and does an incorrect charge or cell...
Shimano does not provide ANY spare part for motor, battery, etc. You may rehuse a BMS from another battery with dead cells, but you'll need soldering skills and also be very careful.
It is not known if the problem is low quality cells or bad design of the BMS. It could be that BMS is doing something wrong during battery charge and cell balancing, and it is damaging the cells, independently of their quality.
As FW can not be upgraded in Shimano battery, then the problem...
There are my threads about the issue that recent versions of Shimano 504W batteries show a fast degradation that follows the same pattern in many cases:
90% Degradation at 10 cycles
88% Degradation at 20 cycles
85% Degradation at 30 cycles
82% Degradation at 40 cycles

Tesla Model 3 has 98% Battery Health (2% Degradation) after 160.000Km!!!!
[Sarcasm Mode ON]. What a shitty car, they should learn from Shimano designers Dumb and Dumber!!! [Sarcasm Mode OFF]
After a more detailed analysis of the Battery and holder contacts, I can say that this is another true design from Shimano famous designers Dumb and Dumber.
So, let me explain, Battery Holder in frame has four male tabs:
One Short and wide (High curren) for +VBatt
One long and wide (High...
Hi S13, thank you for your help your work with battery and battery is amazing, you remind me of Mr. Wolf: “I'm Winston Wolf. I fix problems.” . Ha ha
The openings in the battery connector are so small that even the smallest tweezers does not fit, so I used a sewing pin. I am opening a new...
During a long ride and after switching from my first battery (External BT-E8010) which was at 10% to my second battery which was at 100%, this second battery throw an E020 error, which means:
E020:
A communication error between the battery and drive unit was detected.
Power assistance is not...
I "closed" the socket "walls" from outside using a thin sewing pin, and now the battery is working and not showing E020 error. Now I have to test it in a trail, but looks that problem is fixed cheap and easy.
My original external battery BT-E8010, which is out of warranty, gave an E020 error:
So the fix I have to try is to "close" the sockets in battery so they make contact with the male pins in frame.
As you have opened the battery, do you have any recommendation on how to do this??
Do I have to...
Once I asked to a shop in Germany, selling in ebay and in his web, and they saids that the motors were old version with old FW and no Shimano warranty and I ended up buying in Commencal web. I hope your store is not where I asked and you have warranty and Shimano support.
Another joke from Shimano:
https://www.shimano-steps.com/e-bikes/europe/en/news/important-notice-for-e-bike-battery-bt-E8016-users
It says that: "It has been confirmed that there are cases where the bicycle cannot be started after the BT-E8016 battery has been fully charged. If this occurs...
