I though this was about sram transmission. Mgu is too heavy for me as I've ridden many bikes in the range 20-25 kg and can definitely say that 25 kg feels too heavy for my type of riding and the advantages of the gearbox won't weight up that weight penalty. Because the non-gearbox type stuff...
Yes, but the current prices aren't attractive enough to justify to throw out a perfectly working cable based group. I only got it because I got a big discount and don't bother to upgrade my other bikes.
It's hard to say but that's still a lot. You won't notice 100 or 200 grams too much but...
The thing is: not everyone wants to ride and shift in turbo all the time. The 100% turbo faction think like motorists and think everybody wants to ride a motorcycle and do as many laps as possible after work. I'm not interested in that stuff.
Transmission is great for people who want to ride...
It has a non-removable battery tho and it looks really good on paper but hasn't been tested so its hard to say if its really as good as it sounds. The orbea wild can also be brought down to 20 kg with similar specs and bosch is a proven and reliable system that on paper is weaker than some...
It could also be the case that because of the motor fiasco specialized sold less levos than anticipated while they ordered too much because of corona demand and they arrived too late while now demand is fizzling out. Introducing a new bike now would make it even harder to sell the existing stock.
I think with the big battery and burly tires its even over 27 kg. The problem is that the current bikes around 25 kg are too heavy for my liking. So with bigger batteries and gearboxes we look at weights way beyond that and no matter the unsprung mass this rides not like a bicycle on trails...
The problem with the mgu is that it makes bikes way heavier. And I don't really experience the big problems everyone seems to have with traditional shifting in my riding. But I certainly notice if I'm riding a 23 or 26 kg bike.
I wanted to buy a wild but skipped on it because of the non removable battery and got a Levo frameset (base carbon) for 4k.
The wild looks sleek but I often travel the alps spontaneously in my campervan which can charge the battery once or twice but its not enough with two bikes, the fridge and...
Wut? How well do you hear? This rattle is common for EP8/801, e8000 plus the current Bosch-Models albeit on the Ep8/801 its the worst and rather annoying on trails:
I don't think that this happened either but it could be possible in theory that some parts, especially around the crank axle would be interchangeable due to standardization. It would be really dumb tho to add this 'feature' to a motor that's not as prone ro rattle.
Did your old one not rattle? Usually the e8000 shouldn't rattle as easily as the ep8 but it depends on the frame. Maybe they did a running change to spare motors with ep8 parts?
How did you determine that the rattle is gone? Did you ride rough trails fast? Did you check by moving the crank arm back and forth by hand without a chain or by rolling the bike forward while doing it? Also some frames enhance the rattling by their kinematic design and frame. Did the ep8 in...
