Hi Mountie,
This is unfortunately, quite normal to wear out a chain within 400 km and even less if you're not careful, but you should be able to get a bit more mileage if you follow these simple step's.
Only buy the best quality chain's you can find.
Clean thoroughly, then dry and lube the chain...
After watching Tamas's video I decided too Strip mine down to see what the seal between the motor and the BB was like and I have to say it looked pretty good, a little bit of crud but nothing horrendous, but I decided to clean it out and pack with the area with waterproof grease before refitting...
Cut and paste from the Commencal site.........
After-sales services
For several years, COMMENCAL has been selling bikes online, direct to the consumer.
From SHIMANO’s side, the E8000 is their absolute priority.
SHIMANO provide a global after-sales service (one of the broadest in the industry)...
Commencal state that one of the reasons they chose Shimano was so that thier customers could directly access the extensive Shimano dealer network to deal with any waranty issues, regardless of where they are in the World. Lets hope they are right, I would be extremely dissapointed with Shimano...

I'm guessing Super boost hubs and 600 or even 700 watt hour batteries as standard, will be among the new things for 2019 models to try and tempt us to part with our hard earned cash. Development has been pretty relentless over the last few years and on the whole that has been a good thing. I...
What a brilliant bit of work and looking at the torque graph especially I really think it's not far from the mark at all. I had the CX for 2 years, undoubtedly the strongest of the bunch, Been riding the E8000 for a couple of months, was initially a little disappointing compared to the CX but...
FYI, anyone interested in the new air spring upgrade kit from Rockshox, these kits are now available but selling fast. By all accounts a real game changer of an upgrade and less than £50.00.

Who's doing the warranty work? Herbie used Certini, considering he never got the bike from them they looked after him very well. Took less than a week.
A bit of Off Piste :D sounds good, we did a bit of that on our way to Princetown, very boggy in places but good fun, definitely like to try the Okehampton run with you next time you go.
Actually this is their first attempt but they are no fools and if you read the blurb they explain why they waited to join in and if you have been keeping up with current affairs re geometry you will also understand.
Had a great ride today, really went for it, covered 26.8 miles in 1h 39 mins ave speed 16 mph, max speed downhill not pedalling 30.8, hardly earth shattering, IMHO the restriction of 250 watts is all that is really required.
