I seem to be speaking (typing) something other than English in this thread. I never talked about bunny hopping. I was talking about getting light over rocks and root etc, and preloading into rises and then jumps.

Keep listening:
"you're not...
Oh you proved your point with a funny GIF way to go.
Dude, I will try to explain this before the mods get around to deleting my account
How you explained this:
To me, how you said that reads a lot more like:
than it does like:
or
From the discussed Sam Hill moment.
I hope you can see how...
"Simply stabbing downwards" are your words, not mine.
I said:
Starting with that, getting a feel for it, and overtime learning - for a 3 weeks in newbie - still sounds OK to me.
But I'm out. I dunno if you're on the spectrum, a troll, an idiot or some combination therein. My money's on...
First, I can do what you suggest. I'll just make that clear.
Preloading and uncompressing the bike works for me on many occasions doing speed runs down fast, rocky & rooty black trails, to get light over chunky sections. There's a lot of situations I use exactly that, that I simply cannot see...
I can only imagine the heaviness of that back wheel lol... I had a Nexus on a commuter bike once and it was horrible on that, I think a Rohloff is around the same weight?
It's a good point I mean if the uplift is a long queue for a smelly van with smelly dudes the ebike would start to seem like a better option, certainly on hot days :) especially here in AUS.
However if we're talking chairlifts with epic scenery of snow capped mountains surrounding Queenstown...
That's all good but in the context of the OP:
I'm not talking about manualling, I'm suggesting simply starting with compressing the bike, learning to time it, and using it to glide over obstacles - it seems to me like a great place to start. He's 52 and he's been riding 3 weeks and is just...
I would also add, learn to compress the bike into the ground and use it like a pogo stick. Just sink your weight hard into the pedals, and time it so the rebound is when you want to get light (or off the lip). It will help you get light over bits of rock garden roots etc, and doing it into...
I'm super happy with mine too. Agree, the front wheel doesn't like to leave the ground at all without a good lip to flick it upwards :) I've learnt to just charge at everything on this bike lol
I ended up putting one of those back country research straps around the battery door, to keep it snug...
This is one of the main reasons that has kept me going back to an analog bike, and it probably will again one day - manuals, getting light over things, jumping over sections. A full fat 25kg eMtb, especially with longer travel like mine and yours, just wants to stick to the ground. I've kind of...
I don't really lack fitness, generally. Being overweight doesn't necessitate that. I'm also 46, this place I'm at would not be uncommon amongst those who, you know, frequent an EMTB forum. I'm not a lycra pedally guy no, and yes I am overweight.
I did not say 200w was a big climbing effort...
This is working great for you so kudos, that's awesome. But I just want to raise a point, because I hear this "I ride in ECO to get stronger" all the time. Here's the thing - I've looked at my data doing the same ride in different modes, and it's just as possible to for me push 180w through the...
I know from e-bike riding with a friend who is a serious road cyclist, the humans' power output and of course weight still matter a LOT! He still left me for dead on uphill stuff. When you take a human whose legs are pumping out an extra 150-200w continually, that just adds to the bikes power...
Not sure why, if the discussion in question is whether Bosch can feel natural like EP8. Do I not qualify because I don't ride a non-e bike? Weird. But if you say so, sure.
I really don't Gary... I got my new ebike 3 months ago, I sold my Knolly Fugitive to help fund it and haven't ridden an analog bike since.
I've been back and forth from ebike to regular since late 2017.
1. Get sick of analog MTB, struggling up steep hills just to descend. I'm really not...
Stunlocker certainly was excellent, and the benchmark out of all the ebike apps I've used, proprietary or otherwise. And derestricting was perfect - just set it to US, get 32km/h limit, job done. I really didn't take issue with the e8000 to be honest, I got rid of that bike because I felt it was...
