I agree with what you say about Thrunton, there are some nice trails, but most of the stuff is mega technical, and nowadays not my cup of tea...
My son loves it, but he is into Enduro events, I destroyed my ankle there 2 years ago, another reason to stay clear!
What’s the bike?
Don’t see too many e - bikes up here, a few mates have them but we tend to have different priorities, couple just tootle about ‘ for a bit of fresh air” my best mate likes to do longer rides in Cheviots ( the rides we did when we were 30 yrs younger) me, I kinda enjoy single track, fireroads...
My mate just got a decent spec bike from CRC, Wilier803 whatever, Shimano power, Di2 shifting. For the money is well spec’d, geometry is not as slack as most, a bit more xc than dh.
He loves it, I ain’t been on it as I ride xl and he rides Xs.....( no comments Gary please?)
Anyone have any...
Don’t think I could go the one bike route ( probably down to getting a hardtail e- bike) , still need the simplicity and feel of my Whyte 130c.
Love the e bike, but need to keep my manually propelled toys.
Hi Julien and welcome!.... it’s a great site, good people and lots of helpful information.
Are you the only e biker on Reunion?.... I used to visit next island next door, Mauritius and mountain biked and raced there with some locals.....lovely part of the world, and in the middle of your summer...
Wouldnt be clamping it on the dropper.... if it’s balanced in the stand and you don’t clamp it up silly tight it will be ok in a decent stand ( my carbon Whyte hasn’t been a problem)
I use both, but use flats on the e bike, pic shows the result of looping a bike whilst using clips.... broken Fibula and Tibia, and dislocation....hasn’t put me off clips but now I pick and choose when to use them!
I have fox 34s on my “conventional” Scott 29er, good fork but I prefer Pikes, slightly larger diameter, I would go 130 / 140 travel or cheaper version of the Pike, the Yari or Revelation, physically similar, but lower spec damper unit.
Extra assist machine for “long trials” and hard core trail riding...
Montesa 4 ride, based on a Mont 4RT trials bike, but with seat, larger fuel tank, longer travel suspension...

Seen here parked outside a bar in the...
I might have this one wrong, but I would differ, most people don’t need 160 / 170 travel and would be better of with 130 /140 travel
.....( “Incoming, Hard hats on” ) .....
Do we all “ Hoon” about giving it big air of massive jumps .... Answer.... no
Then why o why do we lust after the macho...
I tend to run trail at the lowest setting, it is similar to eco, but with a bit extra when needed. Suits my style of riding, when i’m looking for eeking out extra distance.
On that, the 7000 might be a better choice, (or loose some weight, get fitter, change to faster rolling rubber.....)
Can’t really understand why you would want to use any specialist product on a muddy bike, water ( bit of mild detergent)and brush is enough surely.... however, I find “Muc off” is awesome to use on my motorcycle if it’s covered in road dirt from heavy rain. It just seems to dissolve the grime...
You must use a Backpack !..... gorgeous Fox 36’s with a carbuncle attached to a leg....nooooooo. Then what happens if it comes adrift, wrecked wheel and rider....again, Backpack please !
