Agree on the catastrophic nature of carbon, my mates seat tube exploded on a down hill ( decent brand) sounded like a rifle being fired, and shards of sharp Carbon fibre ready to impale you! Interesting to here your slant on CF repairs, I thought it was difficult to repair... I get Ali repaired...

Although carbon (like for like) is much stronger than alloy, IMO, it’s major issue is if takes a impact ( sharp rock) it can crack whereas a malable alloy frame would dent... Still not ideal, but better than a scrapped frame.

The black plastic parts ( as Kernow rightly said) can be used for transportation, but they can also be used when bleeding the brakes, taking he pads out , plastic bits in there place, when bled like this it gives you the correct lever position when pads are replaced,,, ( check tho that this is...

Had same problem on my Sentier, adjusted the top battery fixing, sorted it. However it is a bit trial and error.

I have an Alfine 8 speed hub on a Cannondale Bad Boy .... very easy to use and reliable, gear range could be an issue but with e-assist shouldn’t be any problem. Only down side a bit of a faf getting the wheel in and out.

Just hit the big “6 O” , still love my no assist MTB,s, but find that the e- bike doesn’t kill me after a decent ride ( Knees in particular). Basically, like others say allows quicker recovery, so you get out more often.
