    US-centric (?) Vital-MTB e-bike article

https://www.vitalmtb.com/features/On-eMTB-and-Mountain-Bikes,2766 We’ve all heard this before but the comments do display a more US-centric view, or do they? The author, in the comments, appears to have a more balanced view in their responses.

Hope E-cranks now available in shorter lengths

Maybe. UK-made (made a few miles from where I’m sat now by enthusiasts), CNC machined parts are different to mass produced stuff like Shimano. However I’m not the one making a judgement over which is better. I own both. It’s ok to have different opinions. It’s Friday, have a good weekend mate.

Yeah it’s not a simple single pivot. However has the great looks of a single pivot bike ? Could it be influenced by the early Santa Cruz bikes he was hinting at? My knowledge stops short.

    I had a feeling you’d say that Gary. :)

Yeah, he’s a cool guy. If his ethos is for real, and I’ve no reason to believe it’s PR hype, then fair play. As for the bike, I’d love to see something like what you describe in a package that doesn’t weigh a tonne. There’s loads of heavy long range bikes, and that’s fine as some folk want...

Looks like the adjustable head angle wasn’t just the design mule? I’m very interested to see how this works out - and what their own motor allows them to do. Getting Personal

A summary of why mtbs are (still) so much nicer to ride than Emtbs

I guess Cannondale and SRAM wasted their money on promoting that then? ?

How to hack / derestrict your ebike for free

The EU limit of 25kph is a little low but 32kph makes all the difference on the flats with 2 more teeth on the front ring.

Like Al and Rusty, colour me cynical. This is a moderately interesting design exercise done with the intention of just raising the profile of their current motor as the new Bosch gets going. I really don’t think it’s any more serious than that. And, on those terms, I’d say they’ve succeeded...

Review Mudhugger FRX and rear 29er mudguard

Just test fitted mine to the Orange - fits so well. Comes down much further than on many fits I’ve seen above and protects back of shock well. At 200g it ain’t that light so won’t stay on all the time but it looks well and complements the front Syncros stubby guard that perfectly fits the Fox...

Just say no to integrated batteries

Well, I definitely preferred it to the Levo. I have nowhere near the experience of some on here though so by the time I get my next bike I’ll know even more what I’m aiming at. And I’m not alone in liking an Orange ?

Just say no to integrated batteries

I have one of those bikes that some think is pig ugly (Shimano BT-E8020 contained - Orange Surge). I bloody love how it looks and, more importantly for me, how it rides. There’s no mistaking it’s an eMTB!

So, I know I talk about lighter bikes all the time but I like what they’ve done with this. The split tube looks like a nice way forward to keep the strength with the battery embedded in the down.
