Not really unusual to be breaking chains if you shift under load, in turbo mode ;) A Drivetrain is a fairly simple thing, if it's not set up right it will be noisy and not shift well, but nothing that would be causing the chain to break, unless the chain is too short of course. But then you...
But you said in your first post, that your first chain snapped changing gear under power in high torque mode. I would say that anyone who rides an eeb like that can expect to snap a chain. If you don't let off the pedals and let the derailleur do its thing, that's rider error
Shifting under load is not good for acoustic bikes either. It's just that the consequences on an eeb can be more catastrophic because there's all that extra force going through the drivetrain ;)
If you mean can you buy nicer hubs and get them laced up to your existing rims, yes you can, but in my experience Bontrager wheels are not great quality and you'd be better off investing in a higher quality wheelset. What you could do in the meantime is just fit higher quality bearings. Keep on...
^^^ 100% agree with this. I almost never need to degrease my chain. After trying lots of lube, I have settled on WPL, which I love. 100% organic, and the crap washes off with water without cleaning off all the lube (you need decent pressure, the lube won't wash off in the rain) Really good...
I think it is the retailer or manufacturer's right under warranty to repair or replace. Also second electricbogaloo that a certain amount of oil is normal.
Of course it's annoying to have your bike out of action for a time. Similar thing has happened to me with my Rail, my front brake was...
It does sound very satisfying, I love the DIY tinkering side of MTB (y)Good to know how you got on with the OneUp bar, I've nearly convinced myself I should have one too ;) Did you get the 20mm or 35mm rise?
just added: yep agree YouShop are quite expensive these days. So our bikes have gone up...
Yeah I really can't blame you there, I felt the same way with getting bits for my Remedy, swore I'd never buy another Trek. And here I am with another one  It's very annoying, but Treks represent such good bang for buck (at least here in NZ), you think you're getting good value for...
Yeah, but you're in the UK mate! ;) I see Triton Cycles UK have them for 17GBP but then they charge 30GBP to ship it here to NZ:oops:and they're out of stock at the moment anyway
Over the last week or so I've had trouble with the brakes on my Rail too, still quite a new bike, only been riding it for 3 weeks. Brakes are Shimano MT-520 with 203 rotors, Shimano's budget level 4-piston brakes, and I have found the rotors to be particularly noisy. Rotors were also not running...
I tried for a while to get my accoustic on GMBN's bike vault, eventually I gave up. As long as I think my bike's super nice, that's all that matters ;)
