In my opinion (for what it's worth ) it's definitely worth it, yes the MaxxGrip will be a bit more draggy, but being on the front you won't notice it as much, likewise the softer compound on the front won't wear as fast as it would on the rear, and you'll definitely notice the extra...
Puncture resistance is only one benefit of tubeless though. Tubeless offers more grip, more comfort, less rolling resistance, and is lighter, so less unsprung mass...in my opinion well worth the (relatively minimal) faff
The method when using a narrow tape is actually to do 3 passes around the rim, one each side then down the centre. This helps you get a tight seal and it's easier to press the tape right down into the rim bed
@emtbPhil I used gorilla tape when I first went tubeless, but I wouldn't use it now, it's too thick and does leave a very sticky residue...also found that when a tyre has been on for a while the bead can stick to the edge of the tape, a real bitch to get the tyre off then. I also hate paying...
@nigefox now you've got fresh sealant in your tyres, remove the valve core and poke a cable tie through. Mark the level of sealant on the cable tie - like a dipstick. Makes it dead easy to check the level and top up to the correct amount in the future
@Wet Jimmy I was also wondering if your chain was too long...I think this video is the best explanation and easiest method of correctly sizing a chain. Of course, once you've got it right, you can just size a new chain using the old one. Chapter @ 6:29 explains how to take into consideration...
Yes completely agree @JP-NZ , maxxgrip on the front is just brilliant, the other reason I love them is the additional support of the DoubleDown casing (I've never tried the DH casing) I would love to see Maxxis extend their range by offering MaxxGrip on EXO+ casing and DD with MaxxTerra (only...
I certainly wouldn't be the only one who reuses quicklinks with impunity and never had an issue 😉 your problem is very strange though, your chainring will be narrow/wide (meaning the teeth are alternately skinny and fat to mesh with the narrow and wide links in the chain) , and assuming your...
Has the chain been fitted the wrong way round? The writing/markings on the chain should face outwards. Is there a slightly damaged or bent tooth on the chainring from when your chain snapped ? Check that the quick link has been installed the right way round too
I cringe now to think of how little I maintained or cared about the Healing 10 speed I rode to school on. My Rail gets absolutely pampered by comparison 😄
Except I never mentioned exo or exo plus (assuming you were replying to me )😉
What kind of faults have you had with the Maxxis tyres? I've had a couple of exo casings delaminate (so the tyre wobbles) otherwise I've never had an issue
I love the Assegai 2.5 maxxgrip in DD casing as a front tyre. Rolling resistance and weight don't matter on an eMTB unless you're trying to maximize range, and the DoubleDown casing is extremely supportive, which is important given the extra weight of the bike. As for longevity I've had the...
I've used invisiframe as well...their kits are very detailed in terms of coverage, it does take some time to fit the kit and there is a bit of a knack to it, it's the second kit I've fitted and still don't have it perfect. I got a gloss kit for my Rail which I found easier to fit than the matt...
It can be done, using a spider and 104bcd chainring, you might find this thread useful

Yes I just bought a couple of the Raceface chainrings in the weekend, from BikeInn, so I'm waiting on delivery...will post back when they arrive, but I don't expect any issues, I've used RaceFace cranks and chainrings on my accoustic bike for years. I'm not a huge fan of E13, their components...
