Yes, but if you wanted to increase the sprung weight you wouldn't want that weight up high, you would want it low down, which is where ebikes carry most of their extra weight anyway. If you're wanting to make an eMTB lighter, the obvious area to address would be wheels, tyres, cassette, which...
Interesting, thank you for your thoughts. They are $39 a pair here in NZ, which is on a par with the OEM Hope pads, but there are definitely cheaper alternatives. If the performance doesn't justify the price I guess I won't bother with them 👍
@dobbyhasfriends I hadn't heard of the CL VRX brake pads before, did a quick Google search and found they're available in NZ. Well priced for a ceramic pad, how have you found they perform ?
No point at all putting grease there, it will only get washed away, if any remains it will attract grit and act like grinding paste against your motor seal
At a guess I would say you've overtorqued the caliper bolt or possibly not seated the conical washers correctly resulting in uneven pressure on the caliper body. Sounds like you would benefit from brakes that have more modulation...I've found Shimano to be more on/off compared to my Hopes, for...
Just to update. Took motor bash guard off, and with the battery in place, loosened the security torx screws and pushed on the back of the battery mount. Gap between the tab and the frame was 2.5mm, now it's 4mm. Battery still goes in easily but slightly harder to remove, need to press down a...
Power cuts out at random times, on almost flat ground, strange...has never cut out while climbing and not going downhill over chunk either...happened twice again today. I thought the purpose of the plate was to get everything in perfect alignment and prevent movement? Is there any adjustment so...
@Oupy does your bike have the alignment plate fitted? I have a 2020 alloy without the plate. Out on a ride a couple of days ago and the power cut out twice. I want to keep the damper though because it's made my bike so much quieter. I'm going to try adjusting the bottom mount closer in as...
If money was no object then I would run MaxxGrip front and rear....but I tried it and my back tyre needed replacing after just 6 months...and they're $140 NZD unless you get them on special. I run the same as @Doug Stampfer MaxxGrip DD Assegai front and MaxxTerra DD DHR2 on the rear. It's a...

Bought mine today from Hub Cycles, $5 plus $5 freight anywhere in NZ. I've been getting lots of rattle on chunky descents, hoping this will fix it. Never knew it existed till I read this thread. It's the last item at the bottom of the drop-down options menu. Few other places selling them too...
I wish Maxxis would make MaxxTerra with DD casing for the Assegai , Dissector etc...I love the support and puncture protection of the DD but MaxxGrip just wears too fast on the rear, great on the front though! I think the DHR2 is the only one available in MaxxTerra and DD.
