Bit difficult with Shimano 12sp, not many alternatives around that have the microspline, because it's not open source like the old HG system... BikeInn have XT 12sp cassettes

Otherwise if you're really desperate get a HG...
The hole may have been taped for painting and was left on as an oversight? I wouldn't say there is a high risk of motor failure due to water ingress...I wouldn't go riding through rivers or in the sea ....but big puddles on trails, hosing down after muddy rides, no problem at all
In theory...but in practice I don't think you'd ever get a gaiter with a perfect seal, so debris would still find its way in, and, trapped by the gaiter, risk scratching the shaft of the shock
It's designed to drain through that hole - the motor is a sealed unit and the connectors (which are weather-proof in any case) are at the other end of the motor, so you won't cause any harm if you remove that foam tape and open the drain hole. I've had my Rail over 18 months now no issues...
Some people have mentioned a recess for the o-ring, but my bike was fitted with an e-thirteen ring as new, with no machined recess for the o-ring. Seems strange that a ring designed for use with the Bosch gen 4 would not have the recess. I bought a packet of replacement o-rings from a local...
I didn't refit mine. It seems impossible to tighten the lockring up to specified torque without the o-ring bunching and breaking. As I recall I found the original o-ring already broken, presumably as assembled when the bike was new
Thanks @Mikerb , I was interested to read in this thread, discussion around the steel e13 chainring having 52mm chainline, but the alloy version 53mm, which helped with chainstay clearance..

Hi everyone, happy new year...my apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, I did do a search...just double-checking the chain line for the 2020 Rail is indeed 52mm? Needing a new chain ring, I'm looking at the RaceFace , looks to be good value for money...
Shout out from Christchurch, hope you enjoy the bike, you've got some awesome trails in Welly, maybe you'll make it down south to sample some of ours 😁🤟
You're kind of missing the point. I only ever ride off-road as well but always use the Reflex+ (auto) mode. The light has a built in gyroscope & accelerometer, so it knows if you're climbing, going slower on even flat ground, or stopped for a breather. In these scenarios it will automatically...
