Have similarly tried to clean Velcro and also failed to remove embedded shit.

Yeh, it gets to a point that its easier to replace than try and pick all the trail detritus out, and the mud stains will still probably remain. And the old stuff is still handy and useable around the house/garage/shed/garden.

A new lid to replace the one that saved me a concussion when I smacked the back of my head into a tree on Roots Manoeuvres.
I’ve always used the 100% Aircraft 2 and they’ve been fabulous — I didn’t even have a concussion when I hit the ground hard enough to crack the shell of the helmet — but it’s become really difficult to find one in stock and I’ve heard rumours that 100% aren’t going to be doing full face helmets anymore.

So this time I’ve gone for the Alpinestars Missile Tech Solid helmet, which was a bargain at £150 (down from £400) courtesy of TradeInn. It fits a tiny bit better than the 100% but could do with a tad less crown padding, but as the pads pack out it should be spot on.

That is a good looking lid!

Why did you put the bosch logo upside down????! This is madness!
When you’re faced with an opportunity like I had…you take it. You could make history, become a trendsetter, solidify your legacy.

This is best done during the process of installing a rebuilt motor and new Bosch Badge on an upside down bike. However, all that could change in the future. 😉

As mentioned, there are other benefits also that I never thought of.

Looky @Stihldog you're legend 🙌 Gonna put my Bosch motor label on other way round as you do as a protest against "the man". 😎

And if'n it's a hate crime then take me away

Cues U6000 (not available in blue), bit of a cheat, it's a couple of weeks old. It replaces a U3020 which doesn't have a clutch. Running quite nicely with a 9 speed cassette and shifter.

How about what you're going to buy your ebike?

Looks like I need a new rear wheel. Open to just buying a rim & rebuilding or a complete wheel. Any consensus out there on decent kit?

Weirdly it's staying inflated & in hindsight, I know when it happened & that I've subsequently ridden the bike with no loss of air out of the tyre.

Depends on either your skill or your lbs and your current hub. It might not really be worth trying to only replace the rim versus buying a complete new wheel especially as the lbs would do it at time cost. Where I live they just don't do it for that reason...

What I have done in the past is selecting a great rim + spokes (in your case you need new ones) and rebuilding it on my own, takes lots of time honestly, but this is not very easy to have something perfect so you might need in the end a good lbs that would true it correctly - which is really not that expensive.

Note that this is only interesting too if you have a hub you really like or if you are looking to spend as less money as possible.

I've replaced so many rims for customers, WTB/Hunt/Botrager being the worst for spoke holes splitting.

I hit a stick on a climb last week & it jammed in the chainstay, bringing the bike to a screeching halt. I didn't think anything of it at the time & I've been out for a ride since with no problems & only noticed the damage at all yesterday. It's defnitely goosed & a matter of time before the wheel fails, so I've picked up a Spesh wheel off Ebay for £150.

Big question now is can I rely on the old wheel for a ride this weekend, or will I end up doing the walk of shame home?

ETA, it's a Raceface AR30, far as I can tell, mid market stuff but they've been ok on the bike.

So this week, I put a Fox 36 performance (22, new, OEM from Merlin bikes UK) on my 2024 Trek Rail 5, replacing the rock shox gold 35 rl. Pretty dramatic difference. On sale right now for $366, down from 900. So much less arm pump now.
