Your thread "SC Bullit knocking/rattle" disappeared pretty quick, what happened?
I don't know. I was trying to edit the post to get the youtube short to show up in the post rather than being a generic link to youtube...

I probably edited the post too many times and caused it to get flagged?

My birthday today and my wife surprised me with some HS2 rotors and Galfer purple pads. I did drop a few hints but that was at Christmas. Can’t think what is that else I could upgrade now :(

Happy birthday Rich. Nice bike.👍🏻

I don’t think you just started WW3 in these forums …but here’s a few ideas;
Ride Wrap, valve caps, Reverb Dropper, AXS GX transmission etc etc…😉
Thanks man, waiting for a new reverb dropper that has more than 170, have Axs and ridewrap, but valve caps are definitely an idea 🤔

That’s cool, I ride a Kenevo and an alloy shaft coil shocks are a big no-no.
I check with RockShox the 2023 super deluxe ultimate coil and vivid coil which I have are fine. Yeah I did see the kenevo and meta TR power don’t play nice

Cascade link was a good upgrade for my levo but if your shock is new then I doubt you want to be spending on that area again :).

Smashpot conversions for forks are also awesome.

Had a cascade link on my 5010 v4 and was impressed with it, I’ll probably give it a few rides to see how it is.l, but I’ve not really seen much about smash pot on a Zeb.

The AXS Reverb dropper is definitely a luxury. My medium Rail came with the 150mm Bontrager dropper. After several rides I wanted something else.

I carefully measured the seat post for fit (broom stick) and ordered the 170mm reverb. But I had to wait 7 months for delivery. The owner of the LBS felt bad and sold it to me for cost. These droppers are stupid-expensive so the drop in price was helpful.

The think the reverb also comes in 190 or 210 length?

I sorted out my p**s poor gear changing and horrendous noise in the larger cogs...any guesses? Dry chain, bent derailleur, hanger, worn out chainring/ chain/ cassette...?

Yes I'd threaded the chain the through the wrong side of the rear mech side plates joining tab. Another 'win' for working in a typical British 'garage' in winter with a single overhead light of limited watts. And I was 100% positive I'd threaded it through the correct side, until I double checked today with a torch...after 2 rides and about 40 miles of wtf is wrong with this?

Are those magnetic? RockBros eh?

Maybe a short review and some pics could be useful. …or even your reason if you don’t mind. 🙏

They are "homemade magnetic pedals". The Rockbros plastic pedals were a good candidate as they are light and have an open space in the middle to house the magnets and support bar.

Initial impressions are, very good! I like how they snap my foot into position quickly, but still enable me to put my foot down quickly when needed.
Also having the ability to move my foot around the pedal, but obviously they work best when directly above the magnet.
They also offer a small amount of pedal pressure on the upstroke, which is nice for the climbs.
I suspect nothing like being properly clipped in, but it is still a noticeable amount.

I need to tweak them some more, as at the moment it feels like my foot in riding on the magnet, and I'm not getting any added grip from the pedal pins, so my foot is rotating easily. I believe this is a common issue even with Magpeds, and has a lot to do with the type of clipless shoes you have. I'm using Leatt clipless mtb shoes, which I Really like, but I've read 5-10s have a softer sole that grip the pedal pins better.

So I've either got to try and move the magnets lower, the cleats higher or get longer pins, the easy option is to move the cleats first.

Overall they work far better than I expected and so far I really like the feel of them, though I need to try them for a full day at a bike park to be sure.

I found a number of factors that affect the release. Pin length. Pin amount, pin position, strength of magnetic, hight and position of magnet, spacer used for spd, shoe type …probably a few more too.

I have both Magped and Avery Hustle. I vary the length and position of the pins. Also the spacer under the spd steel plate for different shoe types.

Are you using the Rare Earth type of magnet? Those work well imo.

Yeah, I need to have a play around to get them just right, they might need a combination of different pin lengths and magnet adjustment.
I really only made them to see if I'd like magnetic pedals as I didn't want to waste the £200 on magpeds
They seem to work a whole lot better than I was expecting so I think its going to be worth having a mess around with them until I can get something proper.

I'm using neodymium magnets, they cost more than the pedals 😆 but they are strong!

It really depends on your expectation for the magpeds but to feel them correctly some people really need the strong magnet to even see a benefit.

I found that in the end it is not as good as clipless for stability and the very awkward position of the magnet either too front and too rear did not feel as good as the kind of fixation is just not in the middle making it clunky to me vs mallet for even spd.

In the end also what is to me more important is the foot feel from the pedal, convex or concave, based on where you place your foot. It really does change the ride if you switch from one position to another, especially for tech/jump.

For cruising or trekking that say magped are pretty good even if I prefer the mallet. That said, might be crazy but I really dislike clipless on an emtb for anything else.

I still have the Magped’s but I’m currently using the Avery Hustle (3+ years).

With both brands they kept my left foot on the pedal during down hill decent. As a bonus I found that I could easily backpedal if needed. I don’t think about disengaging …it just happens when I need to. (Difficult to explain). Never been trapped during a OTB.

You can still make adjustments on the fly, but pin length or position can be critical. They still leave wonderful cuts and scars on the ole shin-bone. 😳

All my bike shoes have metal spd plates on them. Some need the plastic shim for a better fit and feel. All my bikes have Avery Hustle peddles.
