I like that, if I didn’t have a reverb dropper I’d have one of them too, the battery sticks too far to allow anything else to fit under the saddle ☹️
This one off Amazon fits with the AXS and has NOT moved or loosened up through 1000 miles of very rough rock gardens.
When it comes time to charge it simply unscrew the light, leaving the mount attached to the saddle rails. I have my saddle slammed back but as you can see; if your saddle is centered the light mount would still fit. If your saddle is slammed forward, it wouldn’t fit.

I went to Go Outdoors to get some camping bits for the weekend, obviously I had to look in the bike Bargain bins.
I don't really want my £1,600 phone on my bars, but I want to try out the flow app display and the Bosch doesn't talk to the Garmin for battery percentage. View attachment 149725 View attachment 149726
Tell me to mind my own business mate but why would you want to put your phone on your bars, personally I’d never put a phone on the bars of a bike full stop, I know it’s each to his own but even my Garmin isn’t on my bars, it’s mounted on the top tube out of harm’s way 👍

This week:

Front mudguard, SKS Mudrocker, as the Acid Mud Shield didn't fit my newly fitted fork 😕

New tyres (Nobby Nics) - my deliberations here Tyre advice: upgrade from Smart Sams

New cranks, Acid MTB Hybrid Pro 170mm. Bit shorter (and bit nicer) as stock (175), got long legs so didn't want to risk going much shorter.

The mudguard is on (pic in the recent) mudguard thread, the tyres and cranks aren't yet.

MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS!!!! lol

I just wanted to see if the flow app added anything to the experience that the Garmin doesn't. the answer is No, it does not, other than being able to see the battery percentage.

Not for my eMTB, but for Mrs irie's eMTB for Chrimbo. Ohlins TTX22m.2. Saw one for a silly price including spring so went for it.
On Sunday replaced the Rockshox Deluxe Select+ on Mrs Rail with the Ohlins shock and set the sag and 'clickers' to what I thought would work for her. During our ride yesterday she didn't notice the shock or yellow coil, but did say bike was very comfortable. Good enough I guess. 👌

Is that the new compound ?
£80ish a tyre 😲
I don't know anything about a new compound. This was £46.49 + £6.99 del total £53.48, I can't recall what the rrp was, I was just looking for this particular tyre and Bike Inn had it the cheapest delivered price. BikeInn is a Spanish company. Deliveries to the UK already have 20% vat added.

This tyre was rated the best rear tyre after the Maxxis Aggressor, by one point. But if you examine the scoring system, the WTB Trail Boss lost out on ease of fitting by two points. But the WTB tyre beat the Maxxis on climbing by one point. I had an Aggressor on my bike from new and never liked it. I was looking for an alternative when I came across one of the "Top 20 mtb tyre" surveys that I referred to above. I have never regretted the change, especially as I immediately sold the Maxxis to my mate.

This is the tyre I was referring to
I've had the original Vigilante & Trail Boss tyres previously on my WhyteT130rs and really rated them too..
I'm still rocking the Assegai front & Minnion DHF rear at the moment and don't change my tyres depending on the season ..still working well in all conditions
If the new incarnations of the WTB actually come down in price in the future then I would be tempted to give them a try ..but £80!..nope.

I have just compared the two tyre treads on my phone and the pattern looks identical. There may be slightly different angles of each block that I cannot detect, but the block and sipe patterns are the same.

On top of my new GoPro 13 Black my family bought me for my birthday last Sunday, I decided I’d need some more batteries and a separate charger so the bank manager has bought them for me 🥰🥰🥰 they arrived today via the Unreliable Parcel Service ( UPS ) late as per usual like the other half dozen times 🙄

Just ordered a set of Maven brakes. 51yrs old and have been having trouble with hands between general hard miles, full time bike mechanic and a crash in September where both hands slapped down on extremely hard pack injuring joints on both thumbs! Hopefully the mavens will allow safe braking with less hand pressure required.

I love my Mavens. Check out Freedom Coast levers for a great feeling upgrade, that look great too.

If you ride a lot of loose rock gardens this is well worth it.
One of my carbon Synthesis wheel sets are beat up from rocks(still rolling perfectly). My new carbon Synthesis I9 1/1 wheel set will now be better protected thanks to Ride Wrap.
I went with matte finish Ride Wrap which blend in great.
I’ve now installed Ride Wrap on four bike frames, four forks, and now one set of wheels……be patient and it comes out great.

Miranda 165mm cranks. The left OEM Haibike crank kept on coming loose. When inspecting it closely, I saw the ISIS splines were quite worn. Hope a new set of cranks will improve the situation. 165mm is the OEM length, so no change there. The Q factor also seems quite similar.

Wintertime is servicetime…
Today an assortment of parts and tools arrived. My tiny workspace in our basement is quickly filling up.
I will renew the outer bearing seals on my Bosch motor and service fork and shock. As this is the first time I will do an air spring rebuild I also needed some of the special tools that Fox requires. Didn’t buy the originals however, but the ones I got look and feel well made and will do the job.
IMG_5796.jpeg

Received a bicycle bit set from Wera a few days ago to go with my torque wrench from them. The extra long 89mm bits are ideal to reach those pesky screws in tight locations.
IMG_5797.jpeg

Still waiting for Black Friday to pull the trigger on new tires. I will go with the new Schwalbe radial Magic Mary front and rear plus everything needed to fit them tubeless for my first time.
