What did you buy your ebike this week?

I’m loving them so far. The engagement is like nothing else I’ve ridden. They started off feeling a bit draggy and slow, but seem much quicker now. Not sure if they XD driver was ram packed full of grease when I got it, and it’s now spread out a bit or something?

I went with some blue spokes as my bike is completely black and dull. I’m now adding turquoise bits to it to make it look a bit brighter… and have ordered some stickers too.

I also bought the full service kit - pawls, springs, bearings and shim tools from i9. Shouldn’t need them for a while, but I like to be prepared!!

Nice color combination! Good idea to buy the service kit. Been very happy so far with customer service from the I9 Team. Seems like most either love or hate the angry hornet sound of the Hydra Hubs. Guess you can mute noise depending on how much grease you add. Not sure why someone would want to mute such a nice sound!

Conti Kryptotal (Enduro compound) on the rear, finally!
The old Specialized Butcher had more than 8.000 km on the clock and needed replacing. After reading about how difficult Conti tires were to install, it took me a few days to find the courage for the task. Turns out it wasn't as difficult as I thought getting it on the Specialized 29" rims (30 cm). But the last learning of the day was: first inflation with tubeless setup is nearly impossible without a compressor, so I had to take the wheel to a friend to help me out.

Only did the front brake today, so yes...

If you get the Hayes bleed kit, there's a nice little piece to join the new hose to the old hose, and then installing the new hose is as easy as pulling the old hose out.

8000!!!! My DHR is looking knackered after 300! I think I'll try something different when it dies.

this is the reason why i haven't changed to a new rear brake yet.
But sometimes it has to be done. Maybe next winter.

Be aware of the effective stem length, ie the position of the grips is the only things that matter in relation to steering input.
I used to run a 45 mm stem with sqlab 30x handlebar but I didn’t like the steering, was too twitchy. Swapped to a race face atlas handlebar and measure a +10 mm on the effective position of the grips

FYI - first ride with wife with 43mm Spank Split stem today (after trailside adjusting wife's handlebar angle which I hadn't got quite right, my bad). Blimey, rocketship gravity downhill on rough chalky/flinty trail, don't think she touched her brakes! At the end she said "that's just like skiing flat out". Indeed (25.9mph on my Kiox).

It helps to put an inner tube in first. Leave it pumped up overnight then remove and put sealant in, you'll find the tyre will seat much easier.

Thought i'd try a microshift drivetrain. advent X 10speed der, shifter and 11-50 cassette. Shifts quite well. Ez set up, slick little clutch switch, mega pulleys and adjusts with allen keys instead of a mix of allen keys and torqx. Im impressed. Now we'll see if the duribility is improved on this latest stuff

I've had my eye on some of those, but slightly begrudge paying £160 from Adidas when the black ones are much cheaper elsewhere and they'll be covered in shite after the first ride

I bought some Bluegrass elbow pads recently, only because they were on sale and wanted some for a couple of days at Antur Stiniog. Really impressed with the quality. They were used too! Saved me from ripping my skin off my arm!

Yeah they make some good quality gear, glad the injury was not too bad

The elbow pads saved my arms and elbows but didn’t save my ribs! Slam was three weeks ago, only just about able to sneeze and cough properly now

Cracked ribs are one of the worst injuries in the sense you can do nothing for them and just have to wait for them to heal
