Sorry. You did what?
Hey, at least I didn't take out the whole arch! Plenty of meat left for it to serve it's purpose which on a thru axle fork is not as demanding as the old 10mm QR vert dropout days. In fact it used to be known as a "brake arch" bitd when the brake posts were mounted high up on the stanchions. A disc brake and thru axle distributes the forces differently.
A little history of what led me to this conclusion was years ago I ran into Doug Bradbury, the originator of Manitou, who in order to try out the new 29" wheels he had gotten took a Manitou with a thru-axle and completely chopped off the arch. At the time it was anything goes in regards to front suspension for 29" wheels so it didn't even seem that odd and he, being an engineer, had thought it through somewhat?
I am by no means advocating/advising for the gen pop to do the same btw. I'll keep an eye on it but expect it will be fine. Heck, I ran a 1000w+ DD hub motor w/regen in a carbon fork for over 3k and they said that shouldn't be done. It was fine with the right installation.
