£40 for a bit of laser cut stainless is a rip off. Hope's 2 piece 220mm rotor is the same price and much more expensive to make.

I just got some new versions of the Butcher and Eliminator tires so I’ll be testing out two casings and two different compounds over the next couple weeks

First I'll lock her up properly:

locks.jpg

Normally i just ride with a Bontrager Comp Keyed Long Chain Lock so that I can park my bike for a wee bit, lock it up against something and walk in and out (technically not even really needed to lock it up in this area, but still.... better safe than sorry).

The new locks are for when I go to places where I don't trust that it is enough. The bordo 6500 for the bike's rear, the bontrager will go for the front wheel, the citychain for the thule trailer & whatever object I want to lock to and the loops to loop between all the wheels etc. Of course that is 6kg of lock, but that is the good thing when riding with a trailer, the weight is in the back.

Of course, one has to consider: && ... it will stop most people just passing by from taking my lady.... as a comment on the vid says:

"LPL to English translation: "provides a fair bit of security" = this core is unpickable for 99.999% of bike thieves"

Definitely good enough for where I typically go with my bike & trailer; might survive a few minutes in Amsterdam (where I definitely do not go with my bike ;) )

Now, back to the S&M vid, while she is locked up:

a new 'mostly silent' Air compressor, so I can give her a good cleaning, because winter is actually coming (fresh snow at 950m, yes that means proper snow accumulating in the ski resorts!!! whee ;) )

aircomp.jpg

and then the Muc-Off toolkit for cleaning her up properly:

That should keep her in mint condition, all perfumed and stuff ;)

The most negative thing I have to say about my new Vitus E-Sommet VRS Sunset is the feeble battery range. Completely inadequate for my style of riding which is 4-5 hours on steep long trails anything up to 3,000+ metres.

So, prior to getting my local mechanic to give me a boosting cell-replacement, I've organised an extra battery to take in my backpack. One of these is incoming...

Wow, 300 bucks for a device that tells you you need to put some air in your tyres!
That was a quick jump to judgement. Also it wasn't even the product I was talking about.
They talk to my Garmin and I can go over what my tire pressure was doing at different points in my ride. I can use this data to optimize what tire pressures work best on a specific trail or tire. When testing tires or trying out a new tire, the optimal tire pressures between different brands, widths, casings and compounds is not constant. Trail conditions and temperature are also variables. Just like the same air pressure is not the same for a Fox fork and a RockShox fork
It also informs me in real time if a lower pressure setting is burping more air.
Tires are suspension and getting the setup correct is just as important as your fork and rear shock.
Maybe you can't wrap your head around spending $300 on a product like this, most people can't.
I couldn't at first either until I utilized all of the Tyrewiz features.
Tyrewiz now retail for $200
I got mine for free.

I couldn't wrap my head around 600 bucks, one for the front and one for the rear!
And you can look at all this data mid ride?
They’re $200 for the pair
Sometimes I’ll do multiple runs on the same part of the trail to see how well my settings are working

Being a bit of a data addict, gotta collect it all (even if you rarely view it... oh well ;) ), I can definitely see TyreWiz and ShockWiz as something I would get... but did enough data collection tools already, thus trying to hold off for as long as I can.

How wide are your new pedals?
I bought new shiny pedals online, but they are only 100mm wide. A little narrow for my flippers :)
If you have wide feet and want Burgtecs go with the composite model. The alu body sits right next to the crank when installed whereas the composite version has a more axle betwen the pedal body and crank.
I have a few pairs of both and actually prefer the composites.

It was a big week for upgrades and I think I’m done for a while. Or at least until my drivetrain needs to be replaced. Got my Fox 38’s 29er setup installed, along with built a new wheel set with Stan’s Flow rims with RaceFace Vault hubs and upgraded my pads and rotors to Galfer 223mm front and back. My stock dropper post wasn’t that great so I installed a OneUp and their Shimano EV spec lever. Had my stock DHX2 Performance shock blow the seals and didn’t feel like having to wait for the warranty to fix it so I bought a 2021 DHX2 and will keep the stock one as a spare. And lastly the new EDC V2 tool to work with the Fox 38.

Bought a lezyne rap II 25 multitool

Seems to have everything you could ever need, including a co2 chuck, and brake disc straightener, and a magnetic slot to keep your chain link, and its not too bulky or heavy, so goes in a pocket no problem.
