Yes and the more idiots there are who blindly pay it the more they will keep putting the price up.

Thing is a Porsche comes with the driving ability the handling and the performance and the brand value to justify it.

Mountain bikes are hard to tell the difference between brands and the motors and batteries are all similar now too. The build quality sucks and its all far Eastern junk of poor quality and reliability.

This ain't no Swiss Time piece or German engineering or British racing heritage. This is mass produced low cost unreliable heavily marketed and replaced yearly which is not a good recipe for high pricing.

Both bike shops and brands need to buy and sell volume and only 12 months ago you could get 40% off an end of season bike. That was before these insane increases.

The winding down of the pandemic and opening up of holidays and other suppressed markets will suck the life right out of this bike bubble and all the money flowing in to it. The stock will go unsold and the market will be flooded and pricing will crash.

The reality check is that mountain biking is a 6/10 fun sport at the best of times. It's not that accessible with limited trail centers and transporting them is a hassle and has a high injury rate. Combine that with what was already a high cost to entry and your market place wasn't that big. This new pricing will make it even smaller.

You only have to look at the small number of subscribers on YouTube channels dedicated to this stuff. It's niche at best even in the pandemic.

The brands are basically crapping on loyal customers in order to exploit new transient customers who will be bored within 3 to 6 months and put their bikes on the market. I'm seeing it already on Facebook.

That is a problem on the horizon for brands who don't seem to look further than 12 months in to the future.
Does someone need a hug? Maybe a nap?
You seem to be frustrated. Maybe take a break from the forum, ride your bike and stop worrying about how other people spend their money.

These prices are insane! I have always had s works but I usually buy used or a frame and transfer parts. Luckily I just bought the 21 comp before the price went up. *bullet dodged* haha

That said, I am in the terminal with you guys and I have banners and beer! Have fun in s works levo land - Its going to be a great trip! Jealous. But not the painful way like Rekt is experiencing. haha

I am still holding for my dream. A lighter weight, more playful Kenevo with a dual crown. I still want all of the power tho!

Me to .along with free lifetime bearings .
Assuming they don’t decide to raise their retails as well

They are not too far from Specialized HQ and I’m sure they are paying for the same freight increases

that money has to come from somewhere

I can’t even get reserve hoops that have been back ordered for a while. When i spoke with SC they said they don’t even know when they’ll get more bikes in. Dealers won’t be able to pick and choose which models or colors to carry.

if anyone is planning to get a santa cruz, better sooner than later

I will wait for the 23. To get my evangelist price, I would be far down the line for availability anyway.

Now that I've seen the photos I wonder what could be a reason behind tilting the area above motor so much, the whole motor area and bottom seat-tube area now looks much bigger to me comparing to gen2, not impressed on that one
For now I only hope they made some significant improvements to 2.2. motor and that Gen2 Levos will be upgradable to 2.2 motors in the future ...

Pictures out there now of the blue black and the white black one in the wild, well back of the bike shop yard by the looks of it. Quick search socia media will turn them up for you.

must say I’m not blown away. I have a 2016 that I have had from new and when the 2018 came out I was not inclined to change but when the 2019 was released I was hooked immediately.

Now I’ve seen it I feel the same way about this new release, looks like a carbon Kenevo might with that top tube.

I just hope I can a still get hold of a SC bullet next month when I have the funds available.

What should I search for on social media? ?

To give an idea .. This is the present one with the "flat motor top" :

On the 22, the frame above the motor reverts back to the old angles, where the motor top ends up being parallel to the bottom of the water bottle - like this :

That’s a good comparison, I wonder why they went that way, that was one of the visual aspects I preferred on the 2019 over the original design.
I'm guessing that in real life it makes the motor area appear visually smaller/more compact. It's probably slightly stronger and more rigid rather than that tight angle to get down to join the flat.

The whole bike looks to be pretty extensively re-worked, even down to much more laterally rigid linkage designs. I'd imagine it's quite an evolutionary step when it comes to actually riding it.
