Hi Rob. Since us mere mortals probably won’t be able to get the "new" motor for some time, would you be able to apply the firmware update to the old one to try? Then we might get a slightly improved motor.
Cheers.

From Bafang,

We also improved hardware for matching this new upgraded software. We just want to provide you the best solution to test.

Thank you for helping us to test our new software. Very looking forward to your comments.

What happening ROB ? you do not built/test during the night ? all the world wait your return ::mad:
;)

seriously, as we have the great luck you are now official bafang developer. I will transmited you my requests:

1) about the throttle. Curently it is not EU rule compatible. But if they modified her seeting to have +- 100w at full throtlle (enough to climb in walk mode in +-40%) and 6 km/h. IT will be in line with "start assist" autorized and the 6 km/H max for walk assist in EU and with that BAFANG will have the most efficient and legal walk assist mode of all other motors in the market. It will also necessary to increase delay before "Error 21" occur when the bike hits an obstacle in throtlle walking mode.

2) Whithout gaving possibility to customer to modified easly all seeting of the motor, may be it will be judicious to take exemple on shimano ? who gave the possibility to chose between 3 functioning (low, midle, full) for each mode. personally i whould keep the 1 and 2 (on 3) alike they are currently, but i will appreciate to have more power less effort applied on torque sensor for the last mode 3.

3) about the display C240. currently we have speed always displayed in big characters and the various informations who can be selected in litlle characters on lower side of display. As mostly purchaser of AE are old people with poor sight (yes, yes) It will be more efficient if they make speed a selectable parameter like the others. And they display in little characters the name of the select and in big characters the value

OK i preach for my personal needed. But i am sure that lot of people will appreciate these "little" software modifications. May be you can do a survey ?

Interestingly it’s a bit lighter than the quoted 3.4KG - so it’s not a M600 hidden inside!

This is exciting. Will be very interesting to see how it rides/performs.

Have you tried the BESST tool yet to see how it's configured ?

I guess you'll be able to compare the settings on there and the previous one in theory ? (and check firmware versions ?).

OK. After a very quick 5 minute ride:

Motor feels more responsive on initial pedal strokes
Motor feel like it has more power
Noise level is very similar, maybe slightly louder.
I suspect hardware is very similar, gears probably still plastic gears

Its raining and miserable out side so it needs a day riding to understand it.

Side note, 160mm Lyrik feels really good on the bike.

And that's probably the reason why they are so interested by the tests realized by Rob… and by the impact that this could have on the sales of this engine...
I'd gladly take one for testing, Rob can I have your spare please. When you contact Bafang next, drop a word in for me and say you have another keen owner who will do all the testing you want :)

Great to hear about the forke because I ordered the 160 mm instead of the 170 mm ?

Still struggeling with the geo. Rob posted 348 BB hight and below 64 deg. head angle with 170 mm Zeb (installed lengt 586) and 29“ wheel. I calculated, and that doesent mathematically fit to the 66 deg. head angle and 20 mm BB drop according to geo chart, based on 27.5 wheels. Did anybody measure the values with 27.5 wheels front and rear, with a 160 mm fork? @Rob: What size of tires did You use, 2.4 / 2.6?

Hey guys

On wednesday i got my Dengfu E10 and already painted it!
Today i put everything together but i have some struggles with it (i work as a mechatronik FIY)

i connected everything like it seems good to me and then i tried to start the Bike an it does not worked....
After a few attemts ai figured out to start it by pressing the button under +- on the handlebar and it worked. So i put everything together and when i finished i couldnt start the bike.....

i have used spray on every connector but maybe have i done something wrong?

i have also measured the voltage with the button on the front right pushed (53VDC) and not pushed (46VDC) what i really did not understand is this the ON / OFF Button or what?

is it normal that one of the connectors on the motor is not connected?

Thanks guys and i will make a review as soon as everything works.
Greetings from Austria!

the process to switch on is:
1st the push button on frame right side (it stays a bit depressed when on)
2nd several seconds (more than 5 i think) on the lower button of the remote

The unused connector is normal (for brake sensor)

check all pins (brittle) inside connectors and take care that connectors are fully inserted after . To be honest, i had the same problem at my first switch on, i have check all connections and after that work correctely, i have supposed that remote connector is not enough inserted in display.

And if it don't work => melody

Ok thanks for the help i will double check it tomorrow!

I hope it will work, but i think the connectors are not the best ones.

Also make sure battery is fully charged. Sounds obvious but mine wouldn’t turn on as BMS had gone to sleep.
I know what you mean. I hava charged the battery at arrival.

And when it turned on once it showed 100% battery state.

I have unplugged every connector on the motor and the ones on the display looked good.

I really dont know whats up because it started one time before the complete assembly.
