People seem to have different experiences with Specialized dealers. I have so good dealer that it's main reason to buy Specialized. I had only two warranty case, motor and freehub. Both we handled immediately without questions. Motor wasn't even broken, but there was clear evidence that it will be soon (sprag clutch...?) and freehub I maybe broke myself when I dropped it and they changed it anyway, even that I told what happened :D

Strange isn't it, i had a cracked chainstay and sent it into a Concept store here in the UK. Came back with a new battery and motor without even asking for it. Replaced under warranty, about 4 months out of warranty.

If you ride Santa Cruz or Norcal, you have likely already seen it. Most of the rumors are true. Based on specs, it kills all other ebikes aside from it being 150/160. Just don't anticipate a good looking bike because the aesthetics are horrible. It looks nearly identical to a gen 3, but the pregnantness moved more to the downtube....

So, assuming you saw a Gen 4, courious about the model you saw (i.e. S-works or Pro), color rear shock. Did you observe that the sidearm has been deleted along with the hump?

Here is a link to a Canadian site which provides some interesting details. It mentions the 120 NM feature built in to the SWorks only model ( as has been mentioned previously in this forum). If true, it may imply that this is achieved through software or perhaps a separate boost controller/mode applied to the same base motor?

That just reads like a ChatGPT summary of what’s been posted in this thread.

They really are doing higher torque for sworks....
This was already mentioned here before, really interested to see how are they going to do it just for the sworks, because if it’s just a software limitation then all we need to do is ask nicely to your local spesh dealer and we will have it on all models ;)

I'm sure that door is blocked since it sounds to easy and loss of profit and if Specialized sniff it dealer is out of business.
Just as they sniff the gen 3 bricked motors that come from derestricted bikes with range extenders? I’ve seen 6 go into warranty and come back new 😂
Everything is possible, but let’s see. Interested to see how they do it.

So if what we see in the marketplace is true can we assume, S Works get premium torque say 120nm, and others get 100nm? They could restrict this with hardware not just software. 2. Yes, choose the battery that fits your needs the best, say 450, 650, 800wh plus range extender of 250wh. Yes, they'll use the Levo SL frame design which should be lighter, and some sort of carbon layup to make it more enduro focused. The motor will be their own design, bye, bye Brose. New Genie shock, and enhanced display touchscreen?? Chance to knock off 5lbs off current total weight, and if all this comes true, the there will be a Flood of used Legos hit the market. Let the technology thing have use leasing bikes in the future. This is about to get interesting.

Again: a small battery at a premium price is a ripoff. For the price you pay, the Vala should come with the range extender. Santa Cruz marketing convinced a bunch of fat wallets to pay more for less battery and range. I am hoping the industry will follow Ibis with the Oso with a full power Bosch and a 800wh battery for 6k…. That a carbon frame with axis and Fox suspension…. $6,000!

I'm not sure Santa Cruz offered the Vala with a 600wh battery to save money. Why would they? Would they be saving $50 USD at their cost? It was more about weight, for sure. While I do agree about the extender would have been nice to just "include", that's unnecessary. While I did purchase an extender on my Rise, I rarely use it. And think about it. The current Levo offers a 700wh battery which I find more than adequate. With 32 mile rides under my belt with the 700wh battery, can we conclude the new Gen 5 Bosch with better power management and 600wh with the extender for an extra 250wh is opitmal? 850wh? Who uses that much on a regular basis? As for Ibis, they didn't make the OSO with the 800wh to make a statement, rather they are trying to get rid of what must be a huge backstock that if not moved soon, will end up at Jenson USA at an even lower price. Yes, it would be nice, but Specialized has no intention of doing anything close to this. Would be nice, but wait til you see the S-Works bike at $14k... ugh, this ebike thing is getting wild.

I would love more than a 700watt/hr battery. As a group we plan our rides most weekends around battery life. If we could do an extra 10km with a slightly larger battery we would.

I think its roughly about 10 battery cells per 100 watt/hr so to add 100 watt/hr it needs another 10 cells.
200 watt/hr is 20 cells. Sounds like batteries are a costly component in bike manufacture.

They are out there for sure. Lurking in the background of friends Strava pics.

Good morning, and if you could go out pedaling with the new Levo just using the battery extender for your short trips? Do any other manufacturers do this? I don't know.

Small battery is to make bike looking better and save weight, not money. Oso has old Gen4 motor and 750 battery. Cannot compare. Also they have weird sizing….and side loading battery, harder to sell. Good package for that price thou.
