Tom...can u ask Linda that M820 can tuned with besst pro?
I doubt she knows honestly. Let's ask LC-Jim.

I have a BEEST too but not sure there's much tuning beyond factory settings.

Maybe in the near future, some programmers on this forum can modify the 820 firmware.

If you have not noticed Jim's postings in the LCE930 thread...
There are two separate versions of the m820 36v and 43v.
The Besst can be used on the m820.

Found this on ebike-international
"
Boost Your Ride
Another great feature of the M820 is the boost function called “Rocky”. Activating this function is simple, with a single or double click on the “+” sign, dependent on if you already in the boost mode. When entering the “Rocky mode” (seen in the display as a special Rocky icon) the rider will enjoy a “Rocky push feeling” for a set continuous period."

So who made the frame Bafang used for their demo video?

I wonder if the purported 75Nm max/95Nm peak will make a big power delivery difference between the 36 V and 43V. How to predict it? I assume that the difference will translate into delivering less peak Nm and W to 36V?

In comparison, my M600 43V delivers a little less power than my bigger M600 48 V. It's noticable but barely. And the 43V seems to delivery smoother shifting...🤔

The voltage should have nothing to do with power. Power is power. 600w=43vx14a 600w=36vx16.6a
The only difference is that the lower voltage system requires heavier bigger copper wires to carry the increased amperage.
Again the shifting system probably runs off a low voltage and it is dropped down from either size battery so it should make no difference.
Now if you have systems that don't take into account the difference in amperage then indeed you might see loses. If the 36v system does not have bigger wires then you will have higher resistance in the paths and that will cause lower performance.

So could I make a custom battery for the M820 or do I need bafang specific bms? If so, can it be bought aftermarket? I have found some mixed message about this..

Run a Narrow Wide chain ring and you can throw it in the bin. I've now been running over 12 months on my M600 with a NW chain ring and never had a derail.
Who is the manufacturer of the NW star? Please give a link to NW. I have a Chinese WN front star. And the chain flies off my star.

great news to see that it's fully compatible with BESST!
I had a question as it's my first badant build, do they provide the crankset with the motor ? If yes, how much does it weight ?
I'm trying to make a quick estimate on the total weight. I'm at 18.8kg so far, let's see how it goes

Yes crank arms should be included within the motor kit. They did for both my M600s and M620. They are Bafang OEM and likely 170 mm in length. Lower to decent quality, but too long for many that will go shorter 155-160 mn to minimize pedal strikes that most emtbs are prone too...even lighter ones like the 820 builds ...just less from what I hear due to slightly lighter motor.

I doubt the stock Bafangs are lightweight. But they are listed as ISIS interface compatible, so lots of aftermarket crank arms that will be much lighter and higher quality are out there to purchase, both carbon and alloy. Which is awesome;🤙

Just Google Bafang m500/600 crank arms and see if a weight is listed...I'm betting they'll be close to the m820 ones.👍

Here's my E-Hope 155 mm cranks at 465 g. Not superlight but very strong, as I predict I will have to pedal more out of the saddle with the 820 like when I rode the TQ50/Fazua60/Shimano RS lower torque motors.

Here's my stock Bafang M600 I70 mm (without heavy steel crank bolts 15-20 g) in comparison. 530-465 = 65 g

I'll likely shave off 100g going aftermarket alloy and shorter. Not a lot much higher but much stiffer crank arms and bonus; some bling looks.!

I found alloy crank bolts and included them in. 580 g. So 580-465 = 115 g saved! A little better. (Damn alloy cranks bolts were heavier than I thought.😜)
So new Bafang 170 arms.

The crankset that is inclusive with the motor kit weight 498 Gramm incl. bolts.
