they also had to redesign Alloy frame to accommodate new motor and new battery layout.
...and for the Comp Carbon, too. This means my 2018 Comp Carbon may become a "collector´s piece" in the future, as just built for one year

Jaap. just like Apple and Samsung smartphones, 10 month....and for the Comp Carbon, too. This means my 2018 Comp Carbon may become a "collector´s piece" in the future, as just built for one year
Not good news about the weight. My retailer confirmed everything we already know but the Expert will be around 22 kg... he also said the margin is reduced so probably no more 22% discount as before.
Ps: bikes in store already but in the warehouse until the official launch.
He invited me to take a look already but I have no time until October.
Go for a ride and sit on your bike as much as you can. Time will fly ?
No, 2.1 and not 1.2isnt the 2.1 motor the old lump that has been refreshed and not necessarily different bolt pattern ?
No, that is the 1.2E motorisnt the 2.1 motor the old lump that has been refreshed and not necessarily different bolt pattern ?
feel free to remove these
Yes.So, for me the question is, does the 700Wh battery from the new carbon models fit in the new comp frame? (same dimension but 21700 instead of 18650) ?.
No.Any chance the 700Wh battery will be backwards compatible with the 2018 Levo and Kenevo models?
My Specy retailer confirmed today only Expert and Sworks have the 700w battery. IMHO if the 700w has different cells than the 504w, then the electronic to manage the different cells should be different: so IMHO (again) it will be not possible to switch from the 504 to the 700.I'm think we're all going to know this Friday, so only 2 days!
All bikes in the range will have the new motor, but I think only the Carbon (Comp, Expert, S-Works) models will possibly get the bigger 700w battery. Don't hold me to that, lets see on Friday.......
If they changed the design of the frame and the battery is in the frame, removable from the bottom, than there is no compatibility. If the voltage is the same and it's just the capacity that changes then the 700Wh battery and 504Wh battery will be interchangeable assuming they are the same physical size.
thx BeBopSo here are the true rumours that we know as fact (from the rumours thread). SO these are now the facts, no longer rumours. I have picked out all the stuff so we can keep it in one place.
Specialized are about to launch an all new 2019 Levo on the 18th September. Below are the full confirmed details.
The bike should feel significantly different to the 2018, with revised geometry, lighter weight and longer travel. The pricing has increased by approximately 12% across the range, so expect to be paying out a lot more dollars in return for what looks like the worlds most advanced EMTB.
Pictures have been leaking over the past few days and we are now in a position where we have an excellent idea of the bike, down to the exact specification of the Expert and S-Works model.
A few standouts that are worth calling out are the move to 29" wheels, an all new, asymmetric frame based on the 2019 Stumpjumper, an all new display on the top tube showing battery and motor modes (photo has been removed), all new way of integrating the battery into the downtime (sliding it inside the tube). The battery will be 700 Wh on the Expert and S-Works models, and 500 Wh on the other models.
Only the S-Works and Expert level are getting the increased battery. All in the range will get the new 2.1 motor.
The 700 Wh battery WILL fit into all the models. So you can buy a Comp and later a 700 Wh battery.
The new 2.1 motors are the Brose Drive S Mag motors. These offer a 15% smaller size and Specialized are mentioning an 11% weight saving.
[Edited to update the battery, and 2.1 motor confirmed on all models.]

2019 Expert with 150mm RockShox Pike. New frame, with battery fully integrated into the tube, inserted from the bottom of the frame.
From Specialized:
"The Customized 2.1 Rx custom trail-tuned engine is 11% lighter than its predecessor. This puts it at the peak in terms of EMTB motor technology. It has many other features that no other electric bike can boast, such as instant operation, fantastic heat management, double free pinion design that disengages the gearbox when you reach maximum speed and a silent, smooth and even output, even at maximum power"
"The new turbo specialized battery m2-series has 700wh capacity providing 40% more capacity and range, and even more power to travel more trails. And of course, it fits perfectly into the frame and is easily removed."
"The design includes our 29 trail Geometry that features a low bottom bracket, long top tube and short stem. The kinematics of the frame has also been perfected, with the necessary stiffness. The cable guidance is completely internal, including that of the Post Command Post IR, the battery is completely integrated into the down tube, while the minimalist motor is mounted in a more secure way and is lighter than ever."
In Summary
- All new frame based on the new 2019 Stumpjumper. Asymmetrical design with revised geometry
- 150mm front and rear (up from 135mm rear)
- All new 700Wh battery that fully integrates into the downtube (slides right inside the tube from the bottom) on Expert and S-Works model
- Up to 40% more range than before thanks to the new 700Wh battery and more efficient motor
- New 2.1 Rx motor, featuring the Brose Mag S. 15% smaller, 11% lighter and custom tune
- 29" Wheels (up from the 27.5 on earlier models)
- 2.6" Butcher Tyres (smaller than earlier 3", then 2.8" on earlier models)
- All new LED panel on top tube, showing battery status and current motor mode
- 160mm Dropper
2019 Levo Comp Specs. Expected Price: TBC
BeBop.
I meant compatibility between the 2019 models. If they changed the design of the frame and the battery is in the frame, removable from the bottom, than there is no compatibility.
This is what I meant. I wasn't aware the new battery was 500Wh, not 504Wh.Compatibility with the current one? Certainly not. But between the new 500 Wh and 700 Wh it makes sense.
Expect that in November then.Well my S-works Levo ordered.....MB Cyclery called and told me so.....that’s customer service for you......they see it at dealer launch and order it on the spot knowing I’ll order one anyway
Not the S-works thoughI have a feeling that a fair few shops have stock locked and loaded ready to roll out

No chance in hellAny chance the 700Wh battery will be backwards compatible with the 2018 Levo and Kenevo models?
