Trek is still a little bit behind but they do have a carbon e bike with 150/160 travel for 6k USD. Trek dealers usually offer discounts. The spec dealers here are about as tight as a drum. Fork isn't great, just a yari. I believe higher end builds are offered in europe. Integration isn't perfect but they keep improving year after year and will be a player in the coming years it seems.

The prices are going up also "thanks" to dumping , an ebike uses components from all over the world and dumping wars are not helping, even if the price is higher, the only logical reason I won't eventually buy the improved Levo expert 2019 will be the inability to use Blevo, I always drive with the smart power and the smart heart rate monitor enabled, I can't go back to a "stupid" e-bike anymore

what do you think about if the new turbo levo will have an official secondary battery pack that you can attach directly at the recharge plug and will double the power so the ones with a "lower end" comp (or even the high end models) can just add a second battery to increae the range?

I'm in contact with the always kind Blevo developer and if the protocol is changed there could be some problems, if nothing is changed well done specialized, if they made things more difficult, I as a customer will make their lives more difficult just looking at other ebikes or i'll simply keep the old one

Why would you want to make their lives more difficult? Its their responsibility as a manufacturer to make their bikes compliant with federal and local laws. They would be liable for someone getting injured or killed if they didn’t

The way Mission Control works over Bluetooth with 2018 and previous years models is over an "open" protocol that allows other apps like Blevo to have a much more sofisticate tuning (hearth rate monitor is one of a kind) if this "hidden" features that many people use (there are currently much more than 1k users that bought the app) is missing, it's a loss over previous models.

Specialized isn’t in the business of building a bike to work with a third party app that would compromise it’s legal compliance. That would be incredibly reckless and irresponsible. The liability of such a deliberate action could jeopardize the company financially and cause many 100s of people to lose their jobs.
And they sure aren’t going to risk all that for 1000 users who made their bikes illegal When there are 1000s more users that don’t want it and get along fine without it.
I like the BLEvo app, but there have been numerous threads of bikes malfunctioning while using it. I have tried it and found it to be unnecessary for me as a rider. But I don’t have a European bike governed at 25kph. For me it’s not worth the trade off of range, because am a big guy. I could put one of those range extenders on my bike, but It’s not worth the range for the trade off in bike handling.
Like I said if it doesn’t work with the new bike, I am sure either the BLEvo developer or someone else will figure out a work around. Personally wether or not it’s compatible isn’t going to be a deal breaker for me.

As I understand it, at present any motor or battery can go in any frame, it would be good (but makes no sense for Specialized) if this was possible. At one stage us early Levo lovers will need a motor replacement and surely seeing a 10yo Levo on the trail with the latest tech would be a good sign from Specialized that they really do support their riders and cheer leaders.

With the dawn of eMTBs, i think technology will move pretty quickly from here on in, and i'd be surprised if SBC want to constrain themselves with being backwards compatible...

I was more thinking about motor bolt mount locations and charging plugs and hope they don't go down the Apple route debacle of change for the sake of change.

Anyone who "knows" what's coming on the 18th is not allowed to say! Therefore, I think there's still a healthy amount of "rumour" on here....I'd take it all with a healthy dose of scepticism until it's released by SBC themselves...!

We already know the answer to that. No, the new motor is not backwards compatible. It has a different mounting bolt pattern.

If they put in 2.1 motor in entry and Comp FSR, they also had to redesign Alloy frame to accommodate new motor and new battery layout.
Still in doubt they did that...
