Worst thing you bought for your Ebike .

Seven Litres! That should be more than enough!!

Do not over pressurise that ghetto compressor. I have a mental image of it bursting and leaving you stood in rags, with the bike on the other side of the garage! And that would be a good outcome! I have an Airshot that looks slightly bigger than that pop bottle and I have to take it up to...

Powerfly Derailleur Shimano XT M8100, long cage. . . is not positioned correctly?

Even if the tyre is not tubeless ready you should still be able to go tubeless. Make sure that you use plenty of soapy water to ease the bead into place. Try to use something that "explodes" the wheel into place (like an Airshot for example). If you use a compressor it has to be high volume and...

    Pic of the Day

Ref the cave drawing. For those that have the slightest interest, it's a drawing done by my grandson when he was three years old. (A long time ago now). At least there's a smile.

    Help me make a desision

I loved my 2019 Jam2, but they don't make that one anymore; shame as it was so light (20.4kg) Double Praise for Rutland Cycling from me. I use the Whitwell store on the shores of Rutland Water and nothing but praise for them.

    Help me make a desision

As @Zimmerframe said they are all good. So, buy the one that gets your heart racing by just looking at it. Better still, get the one from the closest shop! Seriously!

Tesla Model 3, Model Y Thule Easyfold XT

Yep, short journeys are a dream for EV owners. The longer journeys, not so much. It is the undeveloped charging network that is putting me right off. I have recently driven from the middle of England to the south of France. It took me two days (on the speed limit at all times), and then after...

Tesla Model 3, Model Y Thule Easyfold XT

Thanks for that info, the first I have seen for an electric car. Your figures seem to indicate that your energy consumption is on average 26% more when you have the bikes on the roof, even only doing 80-100kph (50-60mph). I would discount the flat terrain because you get the gravity boost when...

Tesla Model 3, Model Y Thule Easyfold XT

@Funkeydunk "minimal impact on range" that is impressive. What cruising speed do you adopt when carrying the bike on the rack? I cruise at the same speed as I do when the rack is not fitted, ie 70mph according to my TomTom sat nav, which is 73mph on the Volvo speedo and 74mph on the Audi speedo.

Worst thing you bought for your Ebike .

Yep, I downgraded too. The first time it was from XT to SLX because the XTs were not in stock for months and the SLXs were available right now! I didn't notice any difference in shifting performance. When it came time to buy another mech, I looked at the XT/SLX prices and bought the SLX; it...

    Rail (625Wh) Back wheel issue.

I don't have a Rail, but I did have problems with rear wheel axles coming loose (and shock mounting bolts) on a Focus Jam2. A bit of Loctite Blue on the threads sorted that out. Make sure the threads are clean (male and female) before using the Loctite. Loctite Blue is not an adhesive, more of...

So do we like these new lite bikes?

My 2019 Focus Jam2 9.6 NINE (carbon framed 29er) weighed 20.4kg (with pedals, heavier grips and tyres). It had the 378Whr battery in the frame and for longer rides I could add another 378Whr to the down tube (another 2.2kg). The motor was the Shimano e8000 with 70Nm never gave me a problem. The...

    Volume Spacers-Can you modify?

If you have one spacer at 0.2cuin and one at 0.4cuin, and you want a 0.3cuin, there is no need to measure the volume of the one that you make. Just go off the weight. For example if you start with a spare 0.4cuin, then just remove material until it weighs half way between what the 0.2 and 0.4...

Worst thing you bought for your Ebike .

I already carry a folding saw large enough to cut through a 7" diameter tree. It also serves as a slasher for brambles, nettles and the like. I spend a lot of time cutting back and removing fallen wood from the off-piste trails I use the most. If I didn't, they would be unrideable within 12...

Worst thing you bought for your Ebike .

I thought that the mech hanger and the bolt securing it to the frame were still supposed to serve that role. You sound like you believe that they no longer do so, is that the case? When did things change? Or is it more a case of creeping change in that mechs have got weaker in the cause of cost...

Trailside Repair - What's in my pack

I like the OneUp chain pliers, so small and light, compared to my workshop pair! They immediately sparked my "want" mode and I started Googling. But £31.50 plus p&p damped down my want mode and replaced it with "how much!" I have had to split a quick link quite a few times on the trail...

Tesla Model 3, Model Y Thule Easyfold XT

I'm sure you have thought about the impact of a bike on a towbar rack upon your range. I don't know what it will do on a Tesla, but on two different petrol-powered cars, it knocked off 10mpg! (Audi A5 and a Volvo S60, both with 225bhp engines). It is not a percentage thing, because it will...

So do we like these new lite bikes?

I have only ever tried one "low powered" bike and that was a Kellys (Theos i50, I think). It had the low power Shimano motor on it, a 60Nm torque one. It did everything I wanted it to do on the trail I did in France, and I was very impressed with it. It altered my opinion about less than full...
