Light Innertubes to carry as a spare for 2.6 tyres

I carry two Tubolitos in my backpack (I have a mullet bike). It never occurred to me that they might be made useless by a dodgy valve. I need to check them, otherwise I'm carrying useless weight and risk being greatly inconvenienced. :(

OK...this may be a REALLY stupid question...

I wear gloves to protect my palms when I come off on gravel (it's always gravel when I fall off!). I did once fall off without gloves, early on in my mtb life and NEVER AGAIN! I also wear gloves to protect from the cold and the wet.

Selling after 3 weeks! / What bike value??

Sorry to have to say this, but you will be lucky to get much more than £2k for your old bike. And the longer you take to sell it, the less you will get for it. Whoever buys the bike will have zero warranty for starters, unless CUBE is willing to transfer the warranty. If it's a mate you are...

Rail (625Wh) Trek Rail Carbon Vs Aluminum

Not a Trek emtb owner, but I thought I would respond on your carbon concern. I've had zero problems with carbon frames, I'm on my fourth carbon framed bike now and had zero problems.

When you pass 50 . . . You are an old fart, so let's see your ride!

Yes, the Merida is more than a bit pricey and it is many times a better bike than I am a rider. But I need all the help I can get!

When you pass 50 . . . You are an old fart, so let's see your ride!

I bought my first mtb when I was 58. It was a Kona Kula 26er hardtail, 100mm travel. I loved that bike and I kept it for years. I was persuaded to sell it to a mate for the 15th birthday of his son. Except the silly bugger only went and got killed on active service and never paid me. (RIP Taz...

Where not to go on holiday

Anywhere in Russia (or China) was already off my holiday list, along with Iran, Afghanistan and a few other "stans". :( With so many beautiful and peaceful places to visit in the world, why choose somewhere like those places. My deepest sympathies to those who have no choice.

What tyres? The Ultimate Tyre Thread

Try Maxxis Rekon 29 x 2.6 (890g). But don't forget that you can go with narrower (and lighter) tyres without losing your street cred! How about the Maxxis High Roller II 29 x 2.4 (933g) It is a grippier tyre and more robust than the Rekon, but will have lower rolling resistance than what you...

    378WH Battery/tec pack problem

Try JEJames in Sheffield. They have two numbers, go for the electric bike shop. (ends in 3103) I bought my Focus Jam2 from them and they were always helpful. They were equally helpful when I bought my latest bike a Merida eOne Sixty.

Sorry to hear of your pain. Pretty much any Codeine based painkiller will cause constipation, although I know of some people that claim not to be affected by it. The longer you take the Codeine the worse you will be. Instead of not taking the pain relief for fear of something worse (bad...

Winter riding kit - stuff to keep you warm and dry

Not me, I'm a Brit and living in GB It's my brother who lives in OZ. He's been there more than 20 years and has fully acclimatised, except his accent which is still pure Yorkshire. I asked him once if he ever had a problem with his accent. He replied that he didn't but some of the Ozzies did!

Yep, I was at a wedding in Australia, sat on a tall stool, so tall that I had the heels of my shoes resting on the rungs about 12" off the ground. I was summoned to a wedding photo with the happy couple and as I turned to go left, my left heel stayed on the rung and I pivoted down to the floor...

I will raise you your piddling little bruise (I do not raise you on the pain aspect though, you win!) with the completely sober fall from a stool that earned me the Forum name "Wedding Crasher". The bruise later spread down past my knee. And yes, it did hurt, but as I said, you win on that one...

Winter riding kit - stuff to keep you warm and dry

It is in the southern hemisphere! My brother who lives in Brisbane is already complaining about how cold it is and having to wear a fleece indoors. This means that I would have to wear a long-sleeved shirt instead of a Tee, plus the usual shorts and sandals when out and about.

I have been a fan of elbow guards from quite early on. But I went through a phase of falling off and landing on my side. No damage to the elbows, but the guards did a lot of damage* to my ribs! Note* By damage, I don't mean broken, I mean sprained to the point of breaking, such that it is...
