Help me make a desision

Originally had my heart set on a aJam2 6.9, but bottled it after an attack of indecision! Also a trip to the local bike shop and seeing some lovely Whyte es160s and turbo Levos didn’t help!

im now at a loss of what to go for. Not asking which is best, but reasons for and against the models above appreciate, and others for consideration, Orbea..?

A simple rule is ... if in doubt ... buy a bike !

You've arrived at a difficult time .. pretty much whatever you buy will be "good" !

What is "best" will depend on you, what you want it for and so on - but even then, real world they are all capable.

Yes, a lightweight will generally be lighter .. a full fat generally heavier..

The Whyte's are great, the Jam is great.

Often one will seem more attractive just because of how it looks.

You seem to be looking and opening up more possibilities rather than whittling down.

If the decision is not a passionate one then :

Be honest, what terrain will you ride.

How far do you want to go ?

How long do you want to ride ?

How high do you want to climb ?

How fast do you envision yourself going ?

Will you be lifting the bike over gates and onto roof racks.

Can you bring the bike inside or do you need an easy to remove battery for charging ?

What colour do you really like ....

Cant comment on the jam 2 not sat on one never mind ridden one ,Orbea sat on a few just did not suit me . The specialised turbo levo / specialised range i do like , but for me its the Whytes that wins , reasons for that decision ,well my mate bought a 150rs a year and a half ago or so and not had a single problem ,i had a day on it a while back and loved it ,, looked at the new 160s when it came out and thought thats the one for me but ended up buying the 160rsx and really cant fault it
But thats just my 2 pence worth ,
just one thing i would say is, buy what feels right for you

As @Zimmerframe said they are all good. So, buy the one that gets your heart racing by just looking at it.

Better still, get the one from the closest shop! Seriously!

My closest shop sells Focus, Whyte and specialized, the whyte is really floating my boat, and the Levi’s look great too, but the focus seems a lot better value. Going to go up there and make a decision

Well, I've arranged a test drive at my local shop for the Jam 6.9, a Levo carbon and a es160, I'll decide after a comparison

think about where you will get it maintained and warranty work done. you really don't want to be posting the whole bike back for a replacement shock or something. Def buy from a shop you can walk into, even if it costs more.

Im in Loughborough - Rutland Cycling stock the main brands I'm interested in, don't want to confuse the issue any more by drawing up a very long short-list.

Rutland supplied my last analogue bike, and were great, really helpful so I'm happy to shop there, they will price match too

Just as I speak Chain Reaction just knocked 15% off the E-sommet VRS

I had a 2018 Jam2 that weighed about 22kg, had it for three years and over 3000 miles, it was my first e-mtb and I loved it.

Potential motor issues meant I decided to sell it cheaply and got a Whyte e150s, I was worried about the extra weight, it's 26kg, but I can honestly say I don't notice any difference at all, and it's much better when pointing downhill than the Jam2, more than compensating for my lack of ability

The Bosch motor is amazing, although not as natural as the E8000.

Are there any really bad bikes available nowadays?

I loved my 2019 Jam2, but they don't make that one anymore; shame as it was so light (20.4kg)
Double Praise for Rutland Cycling from me. I use the Whitwell store on the shores of Rutland Water and nothing but praise for them.

We’ll spent the afternoon at Rutland, totally blown away by the Levo, it was just so much more fun to ride than the focus. Loved it so much I didn’t even bother to ride the whyte. The super quiet Brose is fantastic, the Bosch was really quite irritating after riding the levo. So glad I didn’t by the Focus off the spec/price, and took the trouble to try a few. Levo comp alloy coming my way!
