If you scroll down to the bottom of this page, it is there.
10-speed is probably the best way to go, but my knees need the gear range. :(
400 Euros for a device that carries two jockey wheels! "Midas Gold" is well named!
Yes, I'm catching shrubbery. The first time, it was definitely a young pine sapling that got swept up. I was moving quite slowly and turning sharply on a steep incline. Those saplings are tough and pliable buggers and difficult to break or snap; a plastic mech had no chance. No other damage to...
At your height I'm assuming that if you are of average proportions, then your weight will be on the low side. Therefore, you may be well placed to take good advantage of the SL bikes from Trek, Orbea and others. These bikes will be about 20kg or less. Worth considering when you are having to...
It's a possibility that I was a better rider before I went "E", but I have never damaged a mech until recently. It is only the recent 12-speed mechs that I have damaged. I've had 12-speed on mtbs before I went "E". I suspect that Shimano have taken cost cutting one step too far on the M8100...
@CorbyLeek Whatever you get, get it from a bike shop close to you. J E James are in Doncaster (like you), they do several types of emtb and have done so for many years. I have bought two different brands of emtb from them and I have zero complaints about their service.
Emtbs have many...
Nothing, all good here.
Unless I count the replacement Shimano mech to replace the previous one that snapped, and for the replacement to snap in turn. Both in the same place (obviously a weak point).
I expect that sooner or later I will get three in a row.
It's time I started to find an...
It is a common problem. If the slot was bigger, then bigger pebbles would jam in instead of bouncing off. The solution is a flexible cover. I have seen many different home-made on these pages.
I wear Troy Lee designs Shock Doctor range for knee & shin and their elbow guards. Sadly, they no longer make the Shock Doctor range, but have replaced it with something else instead I can only hope that it is good as the SD range. The SD stuff is lightweight, washable, breathable, comfortable...
They look narrower (I said it might be an optical illusion). My current bike is 780, my last bike was 760 and the two before that were 740. In my opinion, 760 is a 100% normal width bar. My 5'9" 15-years old grandson has always preferred a wide bar and his are 800, as was his last bike bought...
Also to @Jurassic Probably all 12-speed with that low hanging mech arm. Previous rides were probs 9-10-speed. I have a similar track record. The latest M8100 XT mechs seem to be made of plastic and shear right across the body where it has not only a low cross-sectional area, but has an embedded...
Stuck in a village in SW Wales, no trails to ride. I was staying with my daughter and her family. I leant my emtb to my 15-years old grandson. He did 18 miles riding up and down the tarmac hills and pretty much wore out the centre treads on the rear tyre. I told him not to use Boost, and he said...
My LBS volunteered to let me use his shop as the meeting point. That way the buyer for my Focus Jam2 could ask the LBS guy what he thinks etc and the buyer has no idea where I live. The buyer came on the train and I picked him up from the station and drove him to the LBS. He did a quick test...
