@MattBlack Welcome to the Forum! :)
You need to get rid of all the decals, transfers and stickers that are not black! Either replace with black or maybe go for something in a "stealth shade. When I was going through an all-black phase I replaced the standard Fox decals with a "stealth"...
One thing NOT to forget is to give the sealant bottle a bloody good shake before tipping part of it into the tyre. I forgot once and had sealant leaking out everywhere for a while. And then when I actually got a puncture (like the following day!), the sealant didn't seal, it just pissed out. I...
Plastic bushings!!!
Is that where DMR have gone since I last bought a pair over ten years ago? I don't like the sound of that. I have been buying spares off eBay and the bushings are the same as the original ones that came with the new pedals. They are not copper but Phosphor Bronze, a...
Did any of you find an e-bike version with a crease in the bar ends to allow wires to go under the grips and into the bar? Or did you reroute the wires around the outside?
When tyre sealant is supposed to seal holes up to 6mm, why do we give up when it won't seal a few bubbles on the rim? I have gone tubeless with tyres that were not tubeless, but I had to change to a latex based sealant. I have had tyres whose sidewall was so porous you could see hundreds and...
Before you reassemble the pedal, slide a suitable O ring over the axle. Position it so that it presses against the lip seal (from the outside). It seems to help my pedals.
You can see the O ring here. I think it acts as a "flinger" to throw muck off before it gets to the lip seal. (Well it's a...
I don't bother with lower leg services or air can services on the shock. What I do is to keep the stanchions clean and lubed (that includes the dropper as well). Then every year or 1200 miles whichever comes last, they go for a proper service by someone like TF Tuned or the designated service...
Not me! I have two pairs that I have had for over ten years, one for 13 years and the other for 11 years, I think. I have serviced the pair of them 3 maybe 4 times, but which one? (dunno). They both started black with blue pins and now they both look scuffed and shiny alloy and I can no longer...
While I was pootling across the Coal Board Land, I realised that I was using features that I will call way points to help me navigate. When I've not had time to commit to memory all the turning points it's good to have recognisable features to jog the memory. On a straight bracken lined trail...
Back in to Pines territory, I came across a big timber stack. I could not resist a typical pic.
Then I discovered where the timber had come from!
That is at the top of Tornado Alley, and it just clipped the start of the trail. So now we have a new start section! It's actually an improvement...
A bit of a pootle around Sherwood Pines, but mostly across the old rail bed into Coal Board land. I was looking for some new bits for an upcoming guided ride. I came across this wreck of a car (yep, It's in there!) How long must it have been there for it to decay to that state?
That looks like a very big rivet joining the black finned section to the shiny backing plate. The pad material looks to be bonded to the black finned plate. So, it all looks good to me!
My XT have a similar nomenclature (N04C) and they are one piece.
Just because you have bent the mech arm doesn't mean that you have to change the whole drive train, if you don't want to. But I suspect that you do want to change. In which case the general word here is that 10-speed is the way to go. Get as big a range cassette as you can 11-46 or 11-42 at the...
I bought an emtb to counter the effect of arthritis in my knees. I had lost fitness as a consequence of the arthritis, but now I have got my fitness back. :)
But I have to say that if I woke up with normal knees, I wouldn't go back to an mtb, absolutely no way; they are so much fun!
