Looking to get an emtb as I find my lower back hurting too much on the climbs on my normal bike. The local tracks are all pretty much involve 45min -1 Hr uphills to the start. The concern I have though, is that I noticed the other day on a reasonably technical downhill track that I was...
Had a look at the Scott however it seemed the cockpit is too busy with cables - same when I was looking at an analogue bike.
We have an evo cycles opening in Nelson here next week so may be an opening sale. The Treks look good too. T7 had a Trek LT9 for around 5600 I think which was bloody...
Interesting. What brands do you think would represent better bang for buck though? Over here it seems Giants only competitor pricewise is Trek, everyone else (meaning specialized & Focus- the only other popular bikes sold here) is at least a couple of grand higher.
Sounds good. We don't get the 2 over here in NZ just the 1 & 3 so there is a big jump in price. I have waited for next years models as the 2019 colours weren't what I liked. I may end up paying a couple of grand extra for that choice though whereas some coloured tape may have been a cheaper option.
Tetsugaku this has become a great thread for recommendations of more robust parts & perceptions of part longevity. I felt the same as you when I got into motorcycling & suddenly the 'cheaper' commuter option became more expensive than taking the car.
Over here in NZ we only have the 1 & 3 models. The main difference seems to be the front fork. Anyone used the Suntour fork & found it lacking? If it was branded Fox or Rockshox would we even notice?
Bought a pair of Giro riddance the other week as my feet were slipping off with my Merrel knockabout shoes. Bit of a waste of money really apart from looking flasher they weren't any grippier & absolute death traps on anything wet.
May have to change my pedal pins to something sharper - ouch my...
Kia ora guys. Chris B if you're heading down the West coast try if you can to head up to Denniston Pateau 15mins North of Westport. It is a high plateau that they have done up to retell the story of the miners & community that settled there. The access up there at the time was via coal buckets...
Good review thanks. I had a look at one recently however was quite put off by all the cables up front. It was really messy & put me off & I'm not really a particularly fussy character. In saying that I have to say I do like the look of a smooth looking integrated frame battery than a piggy back...
I love my current analogue Trance so will be looking forward to seeing the new e version. When I bought my Trance a couple of years ago shops couldn't keep them on th floor for long, as although they weren't the coolest bike to be seen on, the value for money was outstanding. I am a little...
Thanks for your replies. I can see how one could get paralysis by analysis ?.
The other issue raised by a mate was water crossings/ wet tracks. Any issues so far with water getting in?
Kia ora all. I can see an emtb in my future however would like some feedback. A few years ago I got rid of my motorcycles - both running ones & projects as with their ongoing maintenance & costs, they began to own me. Emtbs are relatively new & although I can't see the frame wheels & suspension...
