As a last resort...What about if you found a bike with the white tyres that you liked at a shop & asked the bike shop if you could order the same tyres in yellow & get them to replace them. I'm sure the future owner wouldn't care & the bike shop gets a sale?
As someone who is also...
A lot of people have done the old ghost road on ebikes. If you're on facebook theres a emtb page where the question comes up often. Generally most people take two batteries.
I myself would talk to helibike Nelson & get them to drop off a battery up at ghost lake hut when they do a heli trip up...
All someone needs to do (meaning a bike shop with a suspected cracked bike) is take one to a proper outfit that can scrape the paint away & have a look. An independent party would be a far safer source for evaluation
Only 4? I was trying to make out the markings which a re faded & thought 9NM. Good to know thanks. I'll prob get the shop to torque it up for me
The top ball bearings were all cracked in half. I carefully picked the seal off the bottom one & regreased. There was a bit of grit in there but...
Thats what mine looks like except in a million pieces. I found the broken seal when I took the headset off for painting. Mechanic said just keep grease in it & it'll be ok, which it was till it wasnt.
Not having a torque wrench I can only surmise that I overtorqued it.
I know there would have...
Headset bearings suck. Having a bike with a munted headset bearing sucks. Having 3 guys in a bikeshop trying to find the part number for a headset bearing on a computer at 4pm on a Saturday sucks. Having to wait till Monday to order one knowing that there is probably one in the workshop if...
I can confirm that the suspected crack in the frame I mentioned above has been deemed a crack in the weld & the owner has a loaner frame from Giant until the new one arrives.
This assumes the bike shop would know what they're looking for.
It may be a case of hoping it's a paint crack & stay riding it or losing your bike for 6-9 months till the next batch are coming through for a replacement. Would be quite cool to see one totally cracked open & then we can see what...
yeah but when it came to the time I had to make the choice to ride to the car on my rim & cushcore or push I couldn't bring myself to ride & risk munting a rim & replacing the cushcore...
Heard of one doing the same over here on guys first real ride. Two of his mates bought theirs at the same time so they're worried it's a bad batch.
I think the waiting time is indefinite atm...
I've been running cushcore rear & exo+ then changed to a DD . For my new rim I'll just be running DD casings. They're pretty meaty.
FWIW I ran low pressures until burped a front tyre & ended up walking out
Is the tape punctured when you take the tyre off to redo it? If the tyre lever is in line with the spoke when fitting stubborn tyres it can penetrate the rim tape.
This of course has never happened with me...
LHS crank bolt tightening
New seat, grips if you're into comfort. Not sure what tyres yours come with but your local tracks will determine if you need better.
Yep 29 is prob faster if going faster is your goal. I'm faster on a mullet as an effect of being more manoveurable on the tight trails I like to ride the same way I became faster swapping my rear shock to something better & having more braking & control when I need it. It wasn't a goal to become...
Good point but I'm not sure how to measure it easily. There must be a trek chart somewhere. I'm also unsure of how changing the wheel size affects the motor controller etc & if it's worth getting it changed over.
I did bit of a mullet trial today. I used the rear wheel off my Giant trance analogue bike, swapped the brake rotor & magnet & set it up.
I took some measurements while I was doing it in case anyone was interested in the results. There are some comparitive measurements with the wifes Merida...
