Take a look at the Trek Rail 7. I‘ve read on this forum it’s been voted best “budget” EMTB in a magazine. We’ve 2 in our family and they’re brilliant. With some haggling at an LBS you should get em down to £4500ish.

The Rake is a pain in the arse when you meet cars trying to squeeze past each other and neither wants to give way. It really pisses them off when I scoot between them. I’m in the “Shoulder” having a pint ? by the time they appear at the top. No Eco or Tour though EMTB is a must.

That’s exactly the same as mine. It’s a blast, I love it. Done some minor upgrades: grips, deity pedals and flipped the Mino link to high. Have got the Kiox on order and a set of Saints as I find the rear brake fades when used a lot.

That “mild spec change” on the brakes isn’t any good. The front is OK but i’ve no confidence in the rear so I’ve just ordered a set of Saints for my 2021 Rail 7 along with the Kiox upgrade.
