I had a Shimano battery that was at 83% health after 60 cycles. The result was a battery that died if you put any serious load on it when it was below about 30% charge, and the range was probably 20% down, much more than that if you count the load issues causing it to cut out. Not great.
I...
I have a 2A charger available as it came with our Cube town e-bike. I must admit I've started using it as an alternative to the 4A quite a lot of the time for my Rail's 625 battery on the unscientific basis that slow charging is likely to cause less degradation. I also always leave the battery...
Utter madness. I didn't have quite the struggles that you did, but at the point that I finally got a new E8000 motor I took the opportunity to sell the bike. I took my supplying dealer (happily a large chain so I didn't feel too guilty) to small claims court over the crappy batteries and got a...
I sold my Merida e160 at the point where it had just had a new motor. I figured that was going to be the best value for me and for a potential buyer as, while no warranty, at least there was a reasonable chance of them getting a good run from the new power unit. I also swapped the Zeb off my new...
Just got an AXS GX mech for the Rail. I told a mate how much I liked the XT mech on there and so it immediately started playing up with no amount of fettling seems to sort it, so an upgrade had to happen. Man maths and all that. Shifts beautifully in the stand, will see how it goes later.
We use Pedalcover.co.uk. They were *fantastic* when we had a targeted break-in at the end of 2019. House insurance that covers bikes specifically. Don't know how they would feel about bikes on the outside of a motorhome though - you'd have to make pretty strenuous efforts to secure them I'd imagine?
Hope are a bit susceptible to theft IMO. I put a Hope bottom bracket in my old Stumpjumper and it was stolen from the garage within a couple of months. Coincidence?
If you have an Apple Watch, check out Pedometer++. David Smith just released a massive upgrade - you can upload a gpx directly from Komoot etc, and then the App on the watch can flip between a standard workout distance HR etc screen, and a map view with your route overlaid. It's really nice and...
It's also that, for all their drawbacks, mech based drive chains are remarkably efficient. A gearbox might lose 5 - 16% of the input power, compared to about 3% for a mech based system. That doesn't sound like much, for an ebike that might be a good tradeoff, but traditionally that's been a show...
Same here, but the stock tyres are awful, and they had been very stingy with the sealant.
Tubeless is worth it if you suffer from the sort of punctures that it solves. Personally it's worth the slight faff when not riding (top up tyre pressure once a week, more sealant every few months) for a...
I ride about twice the miles on my analogue Enduro as I do on my Trek Rail.
If I'm riding with friends where everyone's on an ebike and going hard I still find my average heart rate is about 10-15 bpm lower than on my Enduro. I'm not 100% sure why, but my theory is that the technicalities of...
I settled out of court with my UK supplier on issues relating to my Shimano BT-8035 batteries and unacceptable deterioration. I then got rid of the bike as it had a brand new motor and two batteries. I've gone Bosch, I'm not sure I like how it rides as much, but it's definitely got more low end...
I sold my Merida thru Pinkbike. Mutual exchange of driving licenses (mine with street address blanked out), then quick video call to eliminate phishing. He sent a pound to check the transfer, then £500 deposit via bank transfer.
He wanted to pay cash, so we met in the carpark at the local Post...
